Position Summary 

The Production Scheduler is responsible for maintaining and controlling Premier Marine's near-term production schedule under the direction of the Master Scheduler. 

This position translates the Master Scheduler's production plan into a detailed, time-phased production schedule and maintains that schedule as operating conditions change. The Production Scheduler serves as the central point for schedule updates, sequencing, schedule communication, and production schedule performance. 

The role is intentionally distinct from Production Planning. Production Planners are responsible for ensuring planned production is executable from a material, work-order, and planning perspective. The Production Scheduler owns when and in what sequence production is scheduled to occur. 

By owning the daily and weekly scheduling workload, this position enables the Master Scheduler to focus on SIOP, longer-range capacity and demand planning, inventory strategy, scenario planning, and cross-functional business alignment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Production Schedule Management 

• Build and maintain the detailed daily and weekly production schedule based on direction from the Master Scheduler. 
• Convert the master production plan into specific production dates and build sequences. 
• Maintain the rolling production schedule and ensure changes are accurately reflected in scheduling systems and communication tools. 
• Sequence production to support stable manufacturing flow and achievement of business priorities. 
• Incorporate approved schedule changes resulting from demand changes, production constraints, engineering changes, quality issues, or other business requirements. 
• Maintain one clear and current source of truth for the production schedule. 

Schedule Control & Governance 

• Manage the process for requesting and implementing changes to the production schedule. 
• Evaluate requested schedule changes against established scheduling rules and priorities. 
• Prevent unnecessary schedule churn by ensuring changes are reviewed and approved through the appropriate process. 
• Maintain visibility to schedule changes, including what changed, why it changed, and the impact to upcoming production. 
• Escalate competing priorities or significant schedule disruptions to the Master Scheduler. 
• Maintain established schedule freeze windows and planning time fences. 

Daily Schedule Execution 

• Compare actual production completion against the scheduled production plan. 
• Update schedule status based on actual production performance. 
• Identify schedule misses, incomplete builds, or production that moves outside its planned date. 
• Coordinate with Production leadership regarding recovery sequencing when production falls behind schedule. 
• Re-sequence future production based on approved recovery plans. 
• Provide daily visibility to schedule attainment and upcoming production priorities. 
• Escalate schedule risks requiring Master Scheduler or Operations leadership decisions. 

Production Sequencing 

• Develop and maintain detailed production sequencing within the approved production plan. 
• Balance sequencing requirements to support manufacturing flow and operational efficiency. 
• Incorporate established sequencing rules, model mix requirements, capacity limitations, and production constraints. 
• Work with Production leadership to ensure the sequence is practical and executable. 
• Maintain visibility to upcoming model and product mix. 

Cross-Functional Schedule Communication 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the current production schedule. 
• Publish and communicate daily and weekly production schedules. 
• Communicate approved schedule changes to Production Planners, Production leadership, Purchasing, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality, and other impacted functions. 
• Facilitate short-term schedule alignment discussions as required. 
• Ensure all functions are operating from the same current production schedule. 

Schedule Performance & Reporting 

• Track production schedule attainment and adherence. 
• Maintain reporting on planned versus actual production. 
• Identify recurring sources of schedule disruption and provide data to the Master Scheduler and Operations leadership. 
• Track schedule changes and schedule stability. 
• Develop simple reporting and visual management tools that provide clear visibility to production status. 
• Support the Master Scheduler with data required for SIOP and capacity-planning activities. 

Continuous Improvement 

• Develop and maintain standard work for production scheduling. 
• Improve schedule visibility, discipline, and stability across the organization. 
• Reduce manual and duplicate scheduling activities. 
• Support improvements to scheduling functionality within Premier's ERP and planning systems. 
• Identify opportunities to automate routine schedule reporting and maintenance.

Requirements

Qualifications 

• 2+ years of manufacturing scheduling, production control, planning, or operations experience. 
• Experience working in a discrete manufacturing environment preferred. 
• Strong Excel and ERP/MRP system skills. 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large amounts of changing production information. 
• Ability to make sound scheduling decisions within established priorities and constraints. 
• Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
• Experience with mixed-model or high-variation production is preferred.
