Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.

As the AVP of Mobile Device Portfolio, you will lead the strategy, lifecycle management, and innovation for Verizon's Mobile Device Portfolio across Postpaid, Value, and Business segments. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, vendor management, and financial acumen to deliver a competitive lineup of smartphones, tablets, connected laptops, mobile hotspots, gaming consoles, wearables, and emerging form factors. You will direct a large team of product managers, engineers, and testers to drive maximum benefit for customers and the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Strategic Planning & Roadmapping: Develop and maintain a 3-year product roadmap driven by technology trends and customer feedback. Define core device requirements across Retail and B2B, publish guidance for the annual OEM RFP cycle, and lock down the device portfolio.

  • End-to-End Product Management: Oversee all phases of device realization, including UX, compliance and certification, network guidance, acceptance testing, launch support, software updates, security (FOTA), and End-of-Life (EOL) operations.

  • Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Economics: Select and manage vendors. Lead complex negotiations with OEMs and app providers regarding preload strategies, app-tray visibility, privacy/age compliance, and revenue-sharing models (including cost-per-install and minimum guarantees).

  • Operational & Financial Leadership: Oversee SIM & eSIM Management for all of Verizon, including MVA as a channel (eSIM prospecting). Manage BYOD and unlocked device certification, financial reporting, ecosystem cost drivers, and mitigation plans.

  • Team & Culture Building: Cultivate a positive, growth-oriented team culture. Regularly present portfolio updates, competitive analyses, and strategic plans to cross-functional teams and senior executive management.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 10+ years in wireless device marketing, technology, or related fields, with direct experience in consumer device product/portfolio management.

  • Deep understanding of wireless device technology, consumer/market segmentation, and evaluating business and financial metrics.

  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage complex, multi-year software and content licensing agreements.

  • Strong track record of leading highly functional teams and driving change in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.

  • Excellent executive presentation, problem-solving, and international collaboration skills (working with customers, standards bodies, open-source projects).

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Technology.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience leading technical, software development, or hardware engineering teams.

  • Go-to-Market (GTM) experience with consumer devices and deploying large, complex systems in telecom environments.

  • Experience managing large budgets and leading varied, cross-functional disciplines (Network, Product Development, Marketing) without direct supervisory responsibility.

  • Deep knowledge of current hardware/software trends and open-source projects, with the ability to author comprehensive Product or Marketing requirement documents.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
