Description
Our client is seeking a skilled MEPF Site Mechanical Engineer to represent the design and engineering team on site during the construction of a cable landing station in East London. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection installations meet approved designs, specifications and quality standards. This is a site-based opportunity for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor MEPF installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and design requirements.
- Conduct QA/QC inspections and identify and escalate deviations or installation concerns.
- Make routine technical and coordination decisions on site while escalating matters that may impact cost, programme or design intent.
- Support commissioning and testing activities, including witnessing tests and reviewing results against design criteria.
- Monitor installation progress and communicate delays, risks and technical concerns to the project management team.
- Compile, manage and close out snagging and punch lists.
- Assist with the supervision and coordination of MEPF subcontractors and other trades.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, including inspection reports, RFIs, site instructions, photographic records and continuous as-built information.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project documentation using ACC Forma where applicable.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Approximately 6+ years' relevant site experience, ideally at mid- to senior level.
- Previous experience within data centres, telecommunications or other critical infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of MEPF systems and multidisciplinary coordination on active construction sites.
- Experience with quality assurance, inspections, commissioning and construction documentation.
- Knowledge of ACC Forma would be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the confidence to make independent technical decisions and recognise when escalation is required.
- Excellent written communication, reporting and documentation skills.
- Willingness and availability to be based on site in East London for the full 14-month project duration.
