Description
VeldCo Holdings is hiring an Accounting Manager to help own the accuracy and integrity of our financial records across assigned entities. This is a hands-on, senior role: you'll prepare and review financials, own the general ledger and accounting master data, manage vendor compliance and 1099 reporting, and serve as the first-level reviewer of financials across assigned entities. Reports to the Controller.

VeldCo Holdings is a growing, family-built enterprise spanning multiple operating divisions, anchored by our roots in VeldCo Construction. We were built on an unwavering dedication to servant leadership — we treat our trade partners, suppliers, teammates, and customers with respect, and we refuse to deviate from or outgrow that mentality as we grow. Join a tight-knit team where your work has real impact and real ownership.
About the Role
The Accounting Manager is the operational engine of our accounting function — a hands-on, senior position responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records across assigned entities. Day to day, you'll prepare and review financial statements and workpapers, own the general ledger and accounting master data, run vendor compliance and 1099 reporting, and perform the first-level review of financials across assigned entities. This person is expected to exercise sound judgement, identify and resolve issues, and deliver accurate, fully supported, review-ready financial statements within established deadlines. The role requires someone who can manage competing priorities, bring order to complex accounting matters, and know when an issue should be escalated. If you like building order out of complexity and take pride in clean, well-supported numbers, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and own and manage the monthly close across assigned entities, including assigning responsibilities, monitoring deadlines, and driving open items through completion.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, job reconciliations, job costing, percentage-of-completion calculations, inventory reconciliations, gain/loss on asset sales and completed contracts, and management reports. Own the general ledger: maintain recurring journal entries, ensure coding consistency, and keep balance-sheet reconciliations timely.
Ensure all balance-sheet accounts are reconciled, adequately supported, and reviewed each month, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll liabilities, fixed assets, debt, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
Own the integrity and compliance of accounting master data, including vendor and customer setup — reviewing and approving new and modified records, enforcing master-data standards, and periodically auditing for gaps, duplicates, or non-compliance
Manage vendor compliance and new vendor creation (W-9 collection, taxpayer-information validation, and certificate-of-insurance tracking), monitor lien-waiver follow-up and ongoing vendor compliance, and own the annual 1099 filing process end to end, reconciling to the general ledger for assigned entities
Perform the first-level review of financial statements and workpapers across assigned entities — verifying accuracy, account support, and documentation standards — resolving or escalating open items to the Controller.
Help prepare and review financial workpapers across assigned entities, including complex, cross-entity schedules.
Oversee the accounts receivable process and monthly client billings
Prepare financial information for the annual insurance audit and provide supporting information for tax filings as directed by the Controller and CFO
Build efficiencies, suggest and implement cost-saving strategies, strengthen accounting processes and internal controls, support the accounts payable team, and be a resource to staff as questions and issues arise

5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial-statement preparation.
