Description

This is a part-time position located on the northeast side of Indianapolis and the general salary range is $13-$16/hr.

The Paraprofessional (teacher’s aide) provides in-person academic assistance, guidance, and classroom support to students while helping coordinate school operations, procedures, and resources to promote an effective and organized learning environment at The Excel Center. This position works closely with students, teachers, and other staff to support instruction, reinforce student understanding of coursework, and maintain orderly school operations. Additional responsibilities include establishing student accounts, assisting with credit-recovery courses and other academic programs, collecting required documentation, and maintaining accurate attendance records. The Paraprofessional collaborates with the instructional team to support student achievement, meet established educational goals, and align services with applicable academic standards.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Provides students with opportunities to earn academic credit by supporting in-person coursework and reinforcing comprehension. Assists students with reading, note-taking, study strategies, and individualized remediation plans while maintaining an orderly and productive classroom environment.

  • Establishes student accounts and maintains accurate, current information within the student information system.

  • Collects, records, and distributes student assignments and other academic documentation as needed.

  • Tracks relevant student and school data to support achievement goals, ongoing evaluation, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitors testing, independent study periods, and classroom activities while assisting with attendance tracking.

  • Supports the on-site enrollment process for new students, including iExcel participation, troubleshooting, and decision-making consistent with The Excel Center model.

  • Assists with new student orientation and helps students adjust to school expectations, routines, and academic requirements.

  • Maintains classroom and office equipment and coordinates the resolution of equipment issues.

  • Establishes professional performance goals and action plans, reflects on progress, and adjusts practices as needed.

  • Collaborates with school staff to develop and implement goals related to graduation outcomes, enrollment, student achievement, retention, and other school priorities.

  • Partners with coaches and school leadership to support students’ progress toward graduation and postsecondary planning.

  • Assists with staff training, professional development, and goal-setting activities as needed.

  • Promotes and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students.

  • Technical KnowledgeHas working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems and distance learning technology, preferably Blackboard.

  • Information Monitoring/Reporting - Collects and reviews information to manage or improve the achievement of learning goals.
