Meet Our Team

The Data & Audience Platform organization develops and maintains the frameworks, tools, and data products that power WBD’s flagship streaming service, Max, as well as non-streaming businesses across Films, Sports, News, and the broader WBD ecosystem. Our mission is to enable unified analytics and data-driven use cases through a robust multi-tenant platform and semantic layer. We deliver innovative solutions that help teams across the company drive subscriber growth, deepen engagement, and make timely, informed decisions in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Data Engineering, to help build a state-of-the-art data platform that supports data-driven use cases across the organization. The platform will host multiple data products, including Subscription, Content, and Product Analytics; Personalization and Recommendations; and Marketing and Ad Sales enablement. In this role, you will manage a team and design and deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that address current and future big data initiatives.

Role Accountabilities:
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Define and drive the technical vision for data platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalability requirements.
Lead architectural decisions to continue enhancing our state-of-the-art data platform

Hands-on Technical Leadership

Provide technical leadership through active participation in architecture design and code reviews.

Guide teams in troubleshooting complex technical issues while driving code quality, reliability, and engineering best practices.

Team Management & Development
Manage and mentor team of engineers to foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee resource planning, performance reviews, and career development for team members.

Delivery & Execution Oversight
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of engineering projects by establishing best practices, KPIs, and governance processes.
Collaborate with program management to prioritize initiatives and manage dependencies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics and Data Science teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Represent data in stakeholder discussions and communicate progress effectively.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities and operational efficiency.
Champion automation, observability, and security best practices across the engineering organization.

What To Bring 

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar discipline
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering and/or software engineering with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing engineering teams and large-scale projects.
• ·Strong understanding of modern data architecture, cloud-native platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and distributed systems. Ability to guide technical decisions.
• Ability to design, build and manage data engineering and AI/ML engineering pipelines at scale (both streaming and batch)
• Proficient in programming languages like Python, Java or Scala and SQL.
• Proficient in working with streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) and distributed data frameworks (Spark, Flink).
• Proficient in working with cloud data warehouses like Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Proven track record of managing and mentoring engineering teams, driving performance, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Experience in defining technical roadmaps, aligning engineering initiatives with business objectives, and managing cross-functional dependencies.
• Ability to partner effectively with Product, Engineering, Analytics and Data Science teams, influencing stakeholders and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies, champion automation, and implement best practices for scalability, security, and observability.
