The Water Resources Department Engineering Intern will be directly immersed and involved with the operations, maintenance and design of water, sewer, and storm infrastructure Citywide. There will be varied exposure to office, field and interagency facets of engineering. The Intern will work directly with the Engineering team within the Water Resources Department and will be introduced to professional Operations staff.
Work hours: 10-20 hours per week, flexible schedule but within City business hours. The hours may be between Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position is classified as at-will, hourly, part-time. Hourly, part-time positions average 10-20 hours per week and less than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.

The ideal candidate for the Engineering Intern (Water Resources) position is a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong knowledge of Windows-based systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and the capability to use AutoCAD and ArcGIS. They possess excellent oral and written communication skills, are personable, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
- Current enrollment as a college/university sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in the field of Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
- Completion of a survey and fluids/hydraulics course
- Basic knowledge or understanding of AutoCAD
License
- Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required at the time of application
