About this Role
IFS InfraSource is looking for an experienced driver to play a crucial role in coordinating the movement of goods and materials within a designated region. Operating various types of vehicles such as trucks and delivery vans, the Teamster ensures that products are transported safely, efficiently, and on time. This position involves a combination of driving, loading and unloading, and adhering to transportation regulations.
What You'll Do
- Operate and maintain assigned vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition and comply with safety standards.
- Load, transport, and unload goods and materials following established routes and schedules.
- Safely maneuver vehicles in various weather and road conditions, maintaining a strong focus on road safety and traffic regulations
- Plan routes and deliveries, considering traffic, delivery schedules, and potential obstacles to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring proper handling and secure placement to prevent damage during transit.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including logbooks, trip sheets, and delivery documents, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to provide updates on delivery status, delays, or other relevant information.
- Inspect and report any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements to appropriate personnel to ensure the safety and functionality of the fleet.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including safety protocols, to maintain a safe work environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, responding to inquiries and addressing any concerns professionally and courteously.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent military experience; additional relevant training or certifications are a plus.
- Valid commercial driver's license (Class A CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
- Proven experience as a truck driver or in a similar transportation role
- Knowledge of traffic laws, transportation regulations, and safe driving practices
- Ability to operate various types of vehicles, including trucks, vans, and other relevant transportation equipment.
- Strong physical stamina and endurance to perform loading, unloading, and driving duties effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with various stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in completing paperwork and following established procedures.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, routes, and job requirements.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
- Commitment to maintaining a strong focus on safety and adherence to company policies and industry regulations.
