Job Summary
This Electrical Engineering Co-Op position supports the Fort Smith, Arkansas Engineering team in the design, development, and support of electric motor products. The Co-Op will gain hands-on experience with motor design, performance testing, engineering documentation, and manufacturing support while working alongside experienced engineers. The role provides exposure to cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement initiatives, and industry-standard engineering practices, offering a meaningful learning experience and the opportunity to contribute to impactful engineering projects.Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems, components, and electric motor products.
- Support engineering research and analysis to help ensure designs are safe, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Create, modify, and review technical drawings, specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot technical issues and support problem-solving efforts.
- Assist with testing, data collection, and performance evaluation of electrical systems and components.
- Support compliance activities by reviewing applicable industry standards, customer specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams while learning industry best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.
Minimum Qualification:
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Completed at least 60 credit hours toward an Electrical Engineering degree.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, electromagnetics, or electric machines.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualification:
- Exposure to electric motor manufacturing, electrical design projects, or hands-on engineering experience through coursework, internships, co-ops, or student projects is preferred.
- Possesses strong problem-solving skills with experience in motor design and process desired.
- Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills

- Develop analytical and engineering calculation skills through real-world applications.
- Learn key motor design principles and how design decisions impact performance, manufacturability, and cost.
