Description
The Data Platform DevOps Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and operational tooling that powers the enterprise data lakehouse. This role ensures the platform is reliable, scalable, cost-optimized, and continuously delivered with high engineering velocity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▸ Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data pipeline deployments using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
▸ Author and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and Helm for lakehouse components
▸ Manage Kubernetes clusters for orchestration workloads (Airflow, Spark operators, DataHub)
▸ Implement platform observability: logging, metrics, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
▸ Automate environment provisioning for development, staging, and production data platform environments
▸ Collaborate with data engineering and security teams to enforce policy-as-code and configuration standards
▸ Manage cloud cost optimization strategies including spot instance usage, auto-scaling, and resource rightsizing
▸ Develop runbooks, SOP documentation, and on-call playbooks for platform operations
▸ Drive SLA compliance through proactive capacity planning and incident response
▸ Evaluate and introduce new DevOps tooling to improve platform engineering productivity
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
▸ 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE roles
▸ Strong proficiency with Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE)
▸ Experience with CI/CD platforms: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD
▸ Hands-on experience deploying and managing data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP
▸ Proficiency in scripting: Bash, Python, or Go for automation
▸ Experience with container orchestration, Docker, and microservices deployment patterns
▸ Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools: HoneyComb, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog
▸ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
▸ Experience with Databricks Terraform provider or Snowflake deployment automation
▸ Knowledge of GitOps workflows with ArgoCD or Flux
▸ Certifications: CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), AWS DevOps Professional, HashiCorp Terraform
