SUMMARY:

The Medical Manager is responsible for providing leadership, management, and all other needed support to the medical programs. Support may include the responsibilities of the externship coordinator, medical coordinator, and/or instructor positions. Further, responsibilities include the administration of medical program operations according to policy, procedures, and budget guidelines established by Dorsey Schools which are in part based upon regulations of regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the onboarding of new instructors and provide training and development as needed.
  • Responsible to meet medical program goals as set forth in quarterly and annual Campus Effectiveness Planning meetings by strategically implementing new methods and utilizing key staff to aid in processes.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the medical labs to ensure they provide a safe, clean, and professional environment conducive to student recruitment, student training, and student retention. A medical lab should serve two major functions:

(1) it is conducive to the learning process (2) The appearance of the lab should maximize marketability of the schools by presenting a neat, orderly, and professional-like environment.

  • Responsible in ensuring that school operations are compliant with the regulations and criteria of regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable to the institution.
  • Monitor attendance, academic progress, and student retention efforts for medical programs.
  • Assist in providing students the opportunity to actively participate in community events, competitions, and/or professional networking events.

  • Provide training for faculty to ensure ethical and compliant operations according to Dorsey Schools’

policies and procedures and the regulations of regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable to the institution.

  • Externship coordination. Including site development, routine site visits, and monitoring of modular externship reports. (See Externship Coordinator job description for a complete list of responsibilities)
  • Medical coordination. Managing the inventory, purchasing, and storage for all medical program supplies including equipment, uniforms, and books. Manage the administration of medical student proficiencies. (See Medical Coordinator job description for a complete list of responsibilities)
  • Act as an instructor or substitute instructor as needed. (See Instructor job description for a complete list of responsibilities)
  • Work with the Education department to review, evaluate, update, and implement new program course outlines, standardized final examinations, supply lists, proficiency skills checklists, and externship materials as needed and assist with new textbook review.
  • **All other duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS – ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as active, empathetic listening.
  • Ability to motivate, guide, and help students complete their program of study.
  • Ability to motivate, guide, and help faculty to mentor and educate students.
  • Strong ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work well with a team of other department managers to ensure symmetry of operations.
  • Must be resourceful and able to problem solve; strong initiative and solid judgment.
  • Must be reliable with strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proficient with basic office equipment, computers, and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Dorsey policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable.
  • Working knowledge of CampusVue software preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to five years of related medical and educational experience.
  • Meet instructor qualifications for program specific faculty.
  • Teaching experience preferred

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Evening or weekend hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
