DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Reference Librarian is responsible for cataloging (original and copy) and entering the cataloging into the library’s integrated library system; for serials processing and ILS management; for providing user services such as circulation and legal research and reference; for coordinating technical services and troubleshooting technical issues with the Judicial Technology Department; for performing periodic reviews of new and existing resources to ensure improved service and research efficiencies. The Reference Librarian shall assist the State Law Librarian in the promotion of the Law Library and four county libraries to departments within the Judiciary, state and federal agencies, students, vendors, and the general public, and to perform all other related duties as may be assigned by the State Law Librarian. The Reference Librarian may be required to work in any of the Law Library’s five (5) locations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position of Reference Librarian requires a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science or that the candidate be currently enrolled in a MLIS degree program from an accredited institution; and one year of experience in a library or equivalent setting; experience in a law library is a plus. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills required. Candidates must be able to work with physical collections, which requires standing, bending, lifting library materials, pushing loaded book carts, climbing stools, climbing stairs, etc. Candidates must have experience using an ILS and be competent with Microsoft Office applications; or any combination of education and experience that is substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
