Responsibilities

We are seeking a Tekla Support and Systems Technician to own and advance our Tekla environment, standards, and user experience for the Construction Modeling group. You will provide technical support to Tekla Structures users, investigate and resolve workflow issues, and maintain databases, catalogs, templates, reports, drawing layouts, and user-defined attributes that keep our standards consistent across projects, offices, and software releases. Partnering with internal stakeholders and project teams, you will translate business requirements into practical solutions, lead upgrade evaluation and testing, and champion efficient, standardized CAD practice firmwide.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical support and guidance to CAD software users; investigate, troubleshoot and resolve modeling, drawing, numbering, reporting, and configuration issues. 
  • Develop and maintain user documentation, standards, procedures, and best practice guidance. 
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to understand operational requirements, identify and deliver recommendations to improve workflows, efficiency, consistency, and quality. 
  • Develop, maintain, and support internal and client-specific CAD environments. 
  • Define and manage company standards including catalogs, templates, reports, drawing layouts, drawing properties, user-defined attributes, and advanced option settings. 
  • Manage firm folders and environment files, ensuring current approved versions are implemented throughout the Construction Modeling group. 
  • Support the rollout of new standards, workflows, and environment updates. 
  • Evaluate new software versions, service packs, and releases, and assess features that may enhance modeling workflows. 
  • Plan and support software upgrades and environment migrations, documenting impacts, configuration changes, and recommendations.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant qualification and/or equivalent industry experience in Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, CAD/BIM, Information Technology, or a related discipline. 
    • Minimum 5 years' experience using Tekla Structures within a structural steel detailing, construction modeling, or BIM environment. 
    • Strong knowledge of Tekla Structures configuration, administration, and environment management. 
    • Demonstrated experience maintaining Tekla catalogs, templates, reports, drawing layouts, user-defined attributes, and company standards. 
    • Strong understanding of structural steel detailing principles and construction modeling workflows. 
    • Working knowledge of interoperability and automation: Trimble Connect, AutoCAD, Revit, IFC workflows, macros, and custom components. 
    • Proven ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to user support. 
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
