Northrop Grumman is seeking an Environmental Engineer 2/3 - Energy and Sustainability to join the Mission System’s sector Energy and Sustainability team. This position will be in-person located at our facility in Linthicum, MD (BWI Site-Baltimore) and become part of Northrop Grumman’s Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) Organization in Mission Systems Sector.  

 

As an Energy and Sustainability Engineer, the selected candidate will be instrumental in the development of Mission Systems sector greenhouse gas (GHG), water, and solid waste inventories, strategic goal planning, performance tracking, and reporting initiatives. The selected candidate will leverage a data-driven approach to achieving sustainability goals and assist in activities to support sector and site sustainability initiatives. Possess excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

This position can be filled as a Level 2 or 3.

 

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Owning the data management systems and associated data required to develop the Mission Systems sector environmental inventories for energy and greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and solid waste generation

  •  Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and understand anomalies, opportunities, risks, trends, and develop forecasts for the sector and sites

  •  Leading the analysis of sector, division, and site environmental data to increase awareness/engagement, forecast future usage, and identify opportunities from trends and predictive analysis

  •  Leading internal reporting initiatives related to strategic performance metrics and external reporting associated with regulatory drivers 

  •  Supporting the development of goal planning, sector sustainability strategy, and strategic initiatives to impact environmental performance

  •  Identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives to improve data management and sustainability performance

  • Ability to solve problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources; consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems; mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience

  • Familiarity with sustainability related frameworks, terms, concepts, and strategies for driving performance (Net-Zero, Science Based Targets, Renewable Energy, etc) 

  • Knowledge and Advanced Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship required

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years related experience

  • Familiarity with sustainability related frameworks, terms, concepts, and strategies for driving performance (Net-Zero, Science Based Targets, Renewable Energy, etc) 

  • Knowledge and Advanced Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large data sets and data analytics tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and/or Tableau for visualizations

  • Experience with Capturis, NetZero Cloud or similar energy/sustainability data systems

  • Familiarity with building systems, including, but not limited to, electrical distribution, lighting system, HVAC and mechanical systems, and process equipment

  • Prior experience supporting sustainability initiatives in a corporate, manufacturing, or R&D environment

  • Coursework or degree focus in Sustainability, Environmental Science/Engineering, Energy Management, Data Analytics, or related fields

  • Professional Certifications; LEED Accredited Professional, LEED Green Associate, or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
