Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Overview

At the direction of the Behavioral Health Director, the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist performs clinical assistance to behavioral health patients and their families. Works within the requirements of department programs, as well as applicable Indian Health Services Grants for Native Americans, and fulfills community health objectives as dictated by these programs and/or grants.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients and/or patients’ families in understanding and accessing community resources to assist with barriers in areas, including, but not limited to, medical, behavioral health, education, and employment.
• Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients and families within the requirements of department programs.
• Prepares treatment plans and discharge plans and provides crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
• Documents all patient and patient-related sessions in electronic health record system.
• Interprets psychiatric treatment plan and/or information to patient’s family; helps reduce fear and other attitudes which may obstruct acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment.
• Serves as a link between patient, psychiatric agency, and community.
• Presents case information to Behavioral Health Director and other necessary members of the health care team regarding patient’s family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
• Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions, as appropriate, for patients in a crisis condition and for patients with ongoing mental health problems.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients (children, adolescent, adult, or geriatric), including, but not limited to, biopsychosocial assessments, diagnoses using DSM-5 and ICD-10, and treatments within appropriate standards of care for outpatient behavioral health services.
• Demonstrates knowledge of domestic violence, child, and dependent/elder abuse protocols.
• Maintains and adheres to confidentiality, including privileged communications involving patients, employees, and company.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
• Current and Unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist issued by California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
• Three years of prior experience in a healthcare setting.
• Current and valid CPR certification, or ability to attain certification within six months of employment.
• Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and Internet.
• Native American hiring preference applies.

$106,593 annually

Maximum Pay Rate

$133,241 annually
