Position Summary:

This is a working position, so the incumbent not only supervises employees engaged in the job but also is expected to be involved in performing the same functions. Sells paint, and paint accessories to contractors, builders and homeowners: Advises customer on coatings, brushes, and other materials needed, and procedure to follow to complete task customer wishes to perform. Informs customer about quality of tools, paint, stains, necessary quantities/qualities, and other related materials. Handles telephone calls from customers answering questions about products, inventory and related information. Marketing and Growth of the Paint Center should be a constant consideration for all incumbents. Assists in setting weekly schedule and approving time off with coordination of the Paint Center Manager.

Position Requirements:

This position requires the incumbent to be flexible and adaptable to the changes that quickly affect this job. The incumbent should have the skills, knowledge, and ability to train and supervise employees engaged in the Paint Sales position as well as perform the tasks of said position. All sales positions require exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills. The customer is the top priority and comes before any other task performed in this position. Product knowledge is critical as well as awareness of inventory levels. Ability to work on the computer register and operate keyboard. Answer telephones and respond to customers' needs. Need to perform mathematical functions, perform inventory counts, and make necessary adjustments to our system. Communication is the key to maintaining efficiency. We are a small organization that relies heavily on the participation of all employees. If people are missing it influences all employees not only within the department, but the entire store as well.

Duties Include:

Supervisory / Management

• Support daily supervision - Assist the Paint Manager in overseeing employees and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
• Coordinate staff scheduling - Help organize arrival, departure, and break schedules to maintain proper coverage throughout the day.
• Monitor customer traffic - Track incoming customer flow and recommend staffing adjustments during peak and slower periods.
• Train team members - Support employee training on new products, updated procedures, and company policies.
• Partner with store leadership - Work closely with the Store General Manager and Paint Manager to uphold Ring's End service standards.
• Contribute to Paint Center growth - Assist in implementing marketing and promotional strategies that support long‑term departmental growth.
• Maintain inventory readiness - Help ensure inventory levels meet customer needs and support efficient sales operations.
• Assist with ordering - Place or prepare material orders as directed to maintain product availability.
• Customer Service / Store Sales
• Support sales execution - Assist in achieving maximum sales of assigned products by following established merchandising plans, pricing policies, and departmental standards.
• Maintain customer relationships - Communicate regularly with existing customers and engage prospective customers to promote the full range of Ring's End products and services.
• Provide product guidance - Instruct customers on proper product use, application techniques, and project requirements to ensure successful outcomes.
• Resolve customer issues - Address customer dissatisfaction promptly and professionally, recommending appropriate adjustments or solutions to the Paint Manager when needed.

Customer Service / Store Sales (cont.)

• Support credit processes - Assist the credit department by helping obtain customer credit information and supporting efforts to collect delinquent accounts when needed.
• Provide market feedback - Share observations with the General Paint Manager regarding product needs, competitive activity, pricing trends, and opportunities for improved services or merchandising strategies.
• Evaluate advertising effectiveness - Help assess the impact of advertising programs and sales aids to ensure they support customer engagement and departmental growth.
• Maintain pricing standards - Support the Paint Manager in ensuring all products are sold at the highest possible published prices using established perceived‑value principles.
