Overview

**Can live anywhere in the US but will need to travel weekly to Rayville, LA; West Memphis, AR; Montgomery, AL and South FL**The Data Center Operations Manager provides on-site leadership for mechanical field operations across an assigned data center project, building, or campus. The role translates the Director, Data Center's execution strategy into safe, coordinated, and predictable field performance by leading General Superintendents and Superintendents and aligning manpower, short-interval planning, material and equipment deliveries, site logistics, quality control, and installation sequencing. The position is accountable for ensuring field work is properly planned, staffed, supplied, coordinated, and installed in accordance with contract documents, project schedules, safety requirements, and quality standards from mobilization through turnover and closeout.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• Leads by example and reinforces a safety-first culture across the project or campus; works with Safety leadership to ensure field activities comply with ENFRA policies, customer requirements, OSHA standards, and site-specific plans.
• Provides direct leadership, direction, and accountability for General Superintendents and Superintendents; establishes clear expectations and supports the development of field leadership depth.
• Owns field execution planning, including overall installation sequencing, phase planning, short-interval planning, constraint removal, and coordination of two-week look-ahead schedules with the project team.
• Develops and maintains manpower plans with field supervision and administrative support; forecasts labor needs, coordinates additions and reductions, and confirms onboarding, badging, background checks, drug screening, and site access are completed before personnel are needed.
• Coordinates material, equipment, tool, and prefabrication requirements with Project Management, Supply Chain, BIM/VDC, fabrication, vendors, and field supervision to support the installation schedule and prevent lost productivity.
• Oversees site logistics affecting mechanical work, including delivery timing, unloading, laydown, storage, material handling, hoisting, equipment access, inspections, and coordination with the General Contractor and other trades.
• Establishes and maintains consistent field-management processes, communication routines, reporting expectations, and accountability across buildings, work areas, and shifts.
• Ensures installations meet contract documents, approved submittals, coordinated drawings, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and ENFRA quality standards; partners with Quality leadership to prevent, identify, document, and resolve nonconforming work.
• Monitors field productivity, labor performance, schedule progress, rework, constraints, and emerging execution risks; develops and drives corrective or recovery plans with the project team.
• Partners with Project Management to identify scope changes, customer impacts, trade interference, delays, and potential change events; ensures field conditions and impacts are documented promptly and accurately.
• Coordinates subcontractors performing field labor or specialty scopes and holds them accountable for safety, schedule, quality, manpower, logistics, and contractual requirements.
• Maintains effective working relationships with the customer, General Contractor, Owner, design partners, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades; represents ENFRA professionally in field and coordination meetings.
• Participates in project reviews and operating meetings, providing accurate updates on safety, manpower, schedule, material status, productivity, quality, risks, and required decisions.
• Coordinates field readiness for testing, start-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning, punch-list completion, system turnover, and project closeout in partnership with project, quality, and commissioning teams.
• Mentors and develops General Superintendents, Superintendents, and emerging field leaders; identifies succession needs, capability gaps, and training priorities.
• Creates a team environment to ensure a safe, quality, and productive execution while promoting accountability, teamwork, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• 10+ years of progressive mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or related commercial construction field experience, including significant responsibility for large, complex projects.
• 3+ years of verifiable data center or mission-critical construction experience involving complex mechanical and plumbing systems; experience on large-scale projects or campus programs strongly preferred.
• Proven experience leading General Superintendents, Superintendents, subcontractors, and large craft workforces across multiple work areas, buildings, phases, or shifts.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute manpower plans, short-interval plans, material and equipment delivery plans, site logistics plans, and installation sequencing strategies.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical and plumbing construction, including HVAC, hydronic and process piping, plumbing systems, equipment setting, testing, start-up, and commissioning readiness.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, specifications, approved submittals, coordinated drawings, schedules, and installation plans and to resolve field conflicts with the project team.
• Demonstrated understanding of construction safety requirements, quality-control practices, labor productivity, schedule management, field documentation, and change-event identification.
• Proven ability to identify constraints and execution risks, establish accountability, make timely decisions, and drive corrective action in a fast-paced project environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide clear field direction and communicate status, risks, and recovery needs to project and senior leadership.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-management platforms such as Procore, scheduling tools, digital drawings, and field-reporting systems.
• Ability to work full time on the assigned project site and adapt to extended workweeks, multiple shifts, weekends, or changing schedules as project conditions require.

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Prior hands-on field experience in the plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, sheet metal, welding, or related mechanical trades.
• Prior experience as a General Superintendent, Operations Manager, Construction Manager, or comparable field-operations leader on large data center or mission-critical projects.
• Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Current mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC contractor or trade license.

Travel Requirements

• 90% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location in Rayville, LA; West Memphis, AR; Montgomery, AL and South Florida.

Pay Range

USD $134,430.00 - USD $179,425.00 /Yr.
