Registered Nurse - SANE
PRN; Shift Varies
Primary Staffing Needs
Monday through Friday: 11p - 7a
Weekends: 7a - 7p and 7p - 7a
A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is a Registered Nurse with advanced education.
- Performs comprehensive forensic examination of all reported assault patients to include Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse etc. of patients aged 14 years and older.
- A nurse examiner conducts the examination, collects, and preserves evidence, and testifies in legal proceedings.
- The SANE nurse is knowledgeable in the nursing process and its application to the Forensic Nursing Specialty.
- A thorough and detailed exam is performed while restoring dignity to the patient, by providing compassionate and comprehensive care, teaching, and information for follow up care.
Requirements:
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
- One year of relevant job-related experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
- SANE license required in the state of Kentucky; this includes completing the SANE class and 60 hours of training to be completed within 6 months of course.
- Mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years clinical experience in any of the following areas: Emergency, Intensive Care, Pediatric, Maternal Child, Psychiatric and/or Forensic Nursing.
- Preferred experience in Domestic Violence training.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
