The IQVIA Global Health Economics team is composed of around 200 highly qualified multi-disciplinary professionals from a variety of disciplines including health economics, health technology assessment (HTA) strategy and evidence generation, based in 12 geographies, with projects delivered across >50 countries.

Role purpose

This role will offer you the opportunity to support our Global Health Economics team as a Consultant Medical Writer and be part of our HTA Evidence & Strategy Centre of Excellence and Value Communications Centre of Excellence.

This role focusses on medical writing for health economic and outcome research (HEOR) and HTA purposes, where you will be responsible for writing tasks within projects and work with a senior team to co-manage small workstreams, project tasks and thought leadership initiatives.

Typical projects include medical writing for EU Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) dossiers, HTA dossiers (predominantly NICE, SMC, NCPE), global value dossiers (GVDs), payer objection handlers, payer value stories/messaging, literature review protocols and reports, reports for evidence synthesis and health economic modelling studies, and HEOR-focused peer-review manuscripts and conference abstracts. The audience for the project deliverables will be various life-sciences customers as well as healthcare payers, providers, and regulators. You will work within a team of highly experienced health economists and outcomes research specialists providing support across a range of HEOR projects, working in a cross-functional and cross-country project team, providing medical writing, undertaking quality control, and contributing to the management of project delivery (including guiding and reviewing the work of more junior team members).

The role will expose the candidate to the broad range of payer-focused offerings in value communications, HTA strategy and HEOR to support in business development opportunities. An ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the matrix structure typical of our clients in the pharmaceutical industry and how to successfully navigate this structure to achieve clients’ aims. Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate an ability to interpret clinical, economic and real-world evidence and translate findings into compelling value narratives and payer focused communication strategies to optimize a product’s access to markets and its reimbursement.

Qualifications and Skills

Extensive experience with medical writing in HEOR/HTA/payer materials is essential for the role. We are looking for proactive individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Candidates should have a strategic mindset, the ability to identify potential issues and suggest solutions. The ideal applicant should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish relationships with both internal team members and clients. As such, fluency in conversational and business English and strong communication skills is essential. The ability to demonstrate clear scientific communication in English through slide deck development, report writing, and presentations is essential.

• Degree in life sciences (or related), epidemiology or health economics and policy, preferably a Master’s degree;
• Significant experience in medical writing across multiple therapeutic areas (~5 years, minimum 3 years HEOR/HTA experience specifically), including direct experience writing GVDs and/or benchmark HTA submissions (e.g., NICE or G-BA dossiers), peer-reviewed publications, and HEOR study reports/protocols;
• Experience managing and coordinating delivery of GVDs and/or benchmark HTA submissions, or parts of these deliverables;
• Familiarity with health economics and health technology assessment processes, ideally JCA, NICE or G-BA;
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, expertise in scientific writing requirements;
• Ability to produce high-quality written content with minimal guidance from senior team lead;
• Excellent Microsoft office skills (expert in use of MS Word), and high attention to detail;
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn quickly and independently, ability to work autonomously with appropriate guidance when needed;
• Strong time-management and organisational skills, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
  

Responsibilities

• Independently produce high-quality written content for GVDs/HTA dossiers (JCA, NICE, and/or G-BA), HEOR study reports (e.g., SLR, NMA, ITC, modelling, secondary database research, manuscripts, conference abstracts, and other payer materials (e.g., objection handler, value story / value proposition development) with minimal guidance from project manager;
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams;
• Work with senior team to co-manage small projects or workstreams, project tasks and thought leadership initiatives (i.e., guide junior team members, first review junior team members output, client management);
• Conduct quality control reviews of HEOR documents and maintaining audit trails of changes;
• Mentor and train less experienced Medical Writers;
• Contribute to medical writing training initiatives to upskill the team and set quality standards;
• Support the team’s Centre of Excellence initiatives;
• Manage your own time and responsibilities to meet project requirements with clear communication with project managers, line manager and resource manager to ensure utilisation and compliance targets are met.
