Expertise in design and electronic packaging experience with military and commercial equipment required.  Experienced with materials and process involved in electronic packaging, as well as design experience for ground, shipborne, airborne, and space applications.  Possess advanced skills in some aspects of electronic packaging (i.e. Thermal Analysis, Structural Analysis, Environmental, etc.).

Broad Function:  Responsible in leading of assigned product design teams to perform mechanical engineering functions in the design and development of both current and the next generation of military and space-based products with the responsibility for meeting customer requirements and company internal requirements for mechanical design and integrity of the equipment. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Mechanical Engineering and Design functions through the evaluation and introduction of new design and analysis capabilities. Assist with or lead technical proposal efforts and provide Mechanical Engineering support to the team. Support Technology Roadmap developments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing highly complex engineering Analyses and recommending design concepts to meet customer requirements. Evaluate design approaches to ensure compliance with applicable specification and requirements. Review, negotiate and accept mechanical portions of product specifications received from customers. Perform and document mechanical analysis of assigned designs and assure that customer requirements are met. Provide technical mentoring and technical leadership for lower-level engineers, designers and drafting personnel on any assigned projects. Interface with project engineering, process engineering, and design engineering personnel as required to insure successful product designs. Foster spirit of innovative thinking, creativity and development of advanced concepts and technologies for TTM’s products including efficient and cost-effective ways to accomplish program objectives. Determine program and project technical objectives and requirements and assist with developing mechanical standards and guidelines. Develop qualification plan and perform qualification testing to assure that new designs, materials and process meet the intended requirements when implemented. Evaluate vendor capabilities and vendor material specifications to insure compliance with internal and customer requirements. Participate in the hiring, training and development, of new Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Designers. Prepare for, and participate in, internal or customer product design reviews as required. Identify and analyze design problems to achieve optimal solutions that satisfy cost and technical requirements using both internal and external technical resources.  Assist with new, innovative approaches to solve technical problems on a consistent basis. Recommend, evaluate, and take part in product improvement and cost reduction efforts. Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA and Anti-Kick Back. Perform all other related duties and assignments as assigned. Under minimal supervision with broad scope of responsibility, performs complex activities relating to the design, analysis and qualification testing and evaluation of new or revised mechanical or electro-mechanical designs. Performs state-of-the-art product development activities, including drawing board layout and interpretation, and implementation of customer specifications. Make technical recommendations/decisions on projects and develop engineering statements of work, cost and manpower estimates for proposed projects and present technical design reviews within the company and to customers. Serves as a technical leader, helps identify skills gaps and develop others. Understand materials and process capabilities at other TTM facilities and assure that new designs leverage cooperate capabilities where appropriate. Maintain a current understanding of the state of the art of Mechanical Design and Analysis and promote concepts that enhance or expand our mechanical design/analysis capabilities. Preform peer review of designs as assigned to provide recommendations and alternative insights with respect to performance, cost, and producibility.

Provide technical leadership and balanced decision making on any assigned projects. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects.  Ability to lead & manage others. Expert using 3D modeling and FEA packages. Ability to perform thermal and structural analyses related to electronic packaging. Ability to design / solve extremely complex engineering problems with minimal assistance. Ability to develop effective technical relationships with customers, suppliers, and all internal team members. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to support internal and customer meetings and presentations, as well as prepare internal documentation and customer reports. Strong critical thinking and research skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Possess strong leadership skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and a depth of knowledge in several areas. Familiarity with some general purpose engineering tools. (MatLab, MathCad, LabView etc.). Extensive background in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including collaborating with vendors to align drawing requirements with process capabilities.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree, Masters Preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

TTM offers a variety of health and well-being benefit programs. Benefits are available on the 1st of the month following date of hire. For some positions, only PTO and holiday benefits are offered.

Compensation ranges for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At TTM Technologies, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on each individual set of circumstances.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

$126,599 - $222,640

Additional compensation: An annual or quarterly company bonus may apply based on position assignment. Positions hired for alternative shift may be eligible for a shift premium based on the assigned shift and location.

Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of  Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation; c) understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL); d) understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US; e) manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.
