We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who wants to play a key role in modernizing our manufacturing operations. Whether improving material flows, redesigning the plant layout, implementing new equipment, or contributing to an ERP deployment, you will be at the heart of the projects that will shape our future growth.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a strategic role in optimizing our manufacturing operations and supporting the company’s growth. You will be responsible for improving material flows, optimizing production space layouts, implementing new equipment, and deploying management systems that enhance operational efficiency.
Working closely with the Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, you will contribute to developing a high-performing, safe, and future-ready manufacturing facility.
This role contributes to ABB Canada’s Electrification, Installation Products division and is based in Montreal.
The work model is 100% onsite.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize material flows, movements, and operational organization to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Design and implement plant layout projects, including the reconfiguration of production, storage, and internal logistics areas.
- Lead the acquisition, installation, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and operational objectives.
- Actively participate in the implementation and improvement of ERP systems and other integrated management tools to optimize manufacturing processes and operational data management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing engineering or operations improvement role within an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience in production flow optimization, plant layout, and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience planning and implementing manufacturing equipment or automation projects.
- Experience participating in the implementation or improvement of an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and problem-solving tools.
- Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written. English is required to communicate with customers outside Quebec.
