Underground Safety Superintendent

Location: Pogo Mine, Alaska
Rotational Schedule | Remote Mine Site

Webdrill is seeking an experienced Underground Safety Superintendent to join our U.S. operations at Pogo Mine in Alaska on a 2-week-on / 2-week-off rotational schedule, (preferred). Alternative rotations may be considered.

This is a hands-on safety leadership position supporting underground diamond drilling operations. The Safety Superintendent works closely with site leadership and drilling crews to maintain a safe and compliant workplace, strengthen safety performance, and ensure Webdrill's operations meet MSHA, client, and company requirements.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable being in the field, engaging directly with crews, and providing practical safety leadership in an underground mining environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide on-site HSET leadership and guidance to underground diamond drilling teams.
• Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
• Investigate and assist with investigations of incidents and near misses, including identification of corrective actions.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and work with crews and operational leadership to implement effective controls.
• Deliver MSHA Part 48 New Miner Training as required.
• Conduct and support new-hire safety inductions, toolbox meetings, and other safety training.
• Maintain accurate safety records and ensure compliance with MSHA reporting requirements.
• Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of Webdrill's HSET systems, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, client requirements, and company standards.
• Coordinate and manage injury rehabilitation and return-to-work activities.
• Participate in emergency response drills, safety meetings, and other site safety initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with site leadership and drilling crews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety performance.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar safety/HSET position.
• Previous HSET experience within mining or underground drilling.
• Current MSHA Blue Card – Surface (SU) and Underground (IU).
• Strong knowledge of MSHA requirements, including 30 CFR Parts 46 and 48.
• Strong knowledge of underground safety systems, risk management, and emergency response.
• Experience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Ability to prepare accurate safety documentation, reports, and correspondence.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage employees at all levels.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Ability to work a rotational schedule at a remote Alaska mine site.

The Work Environment

This position is based at Pogo Mine, a remote mine site in Alaska. Employees remain at site for the duration of their scheduled rotation.

Camp accommodation and meals are provided while on rotation. Camp amenities include Wi-Fi, dining facilities, exercise and weight rooms, recreation areas, sauna, and individual accommodation rooms.

Candidates must be able to successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a background check, drug and alcohol screening, and physical.

Travel

Webdrill provides transportation between Fairbanks and Pogo Mine.

Employees who reside outside the Fairbanks, Alaska area are responsible for their own travel to and from Fairbanks, Alaska.
