Construction Manager II

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join as a vital member of SEL Construction Management team. We design, build, operate, and maintain 2.7m sq. ft in over 20 countries around the world. As a Construction Manager II, you will work shoulder to shoulder with our construction, design and maintenance teams to coordinate activities of multiple contractors/superintendents and meet project objectives in buildings that support over 8,000 employee owners achieve our mission of making electric power safer, more reliable and more economical.

A typical day as a Construction Manager II might include:  

• Work under minimal supervision to establish project plans, and execute and coordinate multiple construction projects.
• Create, maintain, and monitor accurate project files such as budgets, schedules, bids, contracts, submittals, RFIs, ASIs, and change orders. Own accurate assessment and analysis of project deliverables to assist the team with meeting project objectives such as cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Lead contractor relationships, facilitating effective communication, resolving complex construction issues, and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Guides project team in following applicable processes. Recognizes and elevates process concerns.
• Readily and promptly identify construction project performance related issues. Identify, track and help mitigate project related risks.

This job might be for you if: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, related field or equivalent experience
• Typically 4 years of direct experience in coordinating construction projects
• Excellent coordination, organization, and prioritizing skills
• Demonstrated record of construction project management accomplishments
• Demonstrated competent level knowledge of project management skills, techniques, and terminology
• Basic level of business acumen related to budgets, expense planning, and resource allocation
• Knowledge of construction operations, risk management, safety standards, and compliance requirements

Pay Range Data - $39.00 - $59.00 per hour

We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. We are looking to fill this position at the Construction Manager II level, and we welcome applicants with a range of experience. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly.
