Medical Billing Specialist

Description

 We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our private orthopedic practice. This is a full-time, in-office position responsible for all aspects of the medical billing cycle, with an emphasis on physical and occupational therapy services. Responsibilities include claims submission, payment posting, denial resolution, and accounts receivable follow- up. 

The ideal candidate is an independent problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to maximizing reimbursement while providing excellent customer service. Medical billing experience is preferred but not required.  We are willing to train the right candidate with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities include

• Enter charges accurately and efficiently. 
• Submit electronic and paper insurance claims in a timely manner.
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
• Review, correct and resubmit denied or rejected claims. 
• Prepare and process appeals and reconsiderations.
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding insurance claims and accounts receivable. 
• Respond professionally to patient billing and insurance inquiries.
• Collaborate with providers, front desk staff and clinical teams to resolve billing,      documentation and authorization issues.
• Maintain current knowledge of payer policies and billing guidelines.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous medical billing experience preferred
• Orthopedic and/or physical and occupational therapy billing experience is a plus. 
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, insurance representatives and coworkers.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
• Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record (EMR) systems is preferred.  
• Knowledge of eClinical Works software is a plus

Position Details

· Full-time (40 hours/week)

· In-office position (remote work not available)

· Requires prolonged sitting, computer use, and frequent telephone communication
