As a Technical Expert, you will bring strong technical expertise in manufacturing utilities, equipment maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability and efficiency of critical utilities and equipment supporting the production lines.
You will partner with Line Leaders, Operations, Asset & Reliability and Engineering teams to drive Planned Maintenance, breakdown elimination, energy optimization and technical capability building, ensuring the lines consistently deliver against SQCDSM – Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability and Morale targets.
How You Will Contribute
1. Line & Utilities Performance
Partner with Line Leaders and Operations teams to deliver SQCDSM targets and ensure stable and reliable manufacturing operations.
Participate in DMS – Daily Management System meetings at shift and line level to identify and address equipment and utilities-related losses.
Ensure the availability and reliability of critical utilities and equipment required for uninterrupted production.
Identify opportunities to eliminate technical losses and improve overall equipment and process performance.
2. Utilities & Technical Ownership
Own the technical performance and reliability of critical manufacturing utilities and equipment.
Demonstrate strong technical expertise in utilities such as boilers, chillers, compressors, HVAC, refrigeration, cooling systems, water treatment and HT/LT electrical systems, as applicable to the site.
Own equipment and utility centerline settings, operating standards and basic conditions to ensure consistent and efficient performance.
Drive technical improvements to enhance equipment reliability, availability and operational efficiency.
3. Planned & Preventive Maintenance
Own and execute Preventive, Predictive and Time-Based Maintenance systems and plans for utilities and equipment.
Drive Progressive Maintenance (PM) systems and KPIs at the line/department level.
Monitor maintenance performance through KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, breakdown frequency, PM compliance and equipment reliability.
Ensure effective breakdown maintenance and timely restoration of equipment.
Identify recurring failures and drive permanent solutions through structured problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
4. Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Partner with Asset & Reliability teams to improve equipment and utilities reliability.
Lead breakdown analysis, RCA, CAPA and loss elimination initiatives.
Drive TPM, IL6S, Kaizen and PDCA-based continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce equipment downtime, technical losses and maintenance costs.
Support benchmarking and replication of proven technical solutions across lines/sites.
5. Energy & Cost Optimization
Drive energy and utilities optimization initiatives across areas such as power, steam, compressed air, chilled water and water consumption.
Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, utility losses and R&M – Repairs & Maintenance costs.
Own/track the R&M budget for the respective line/area and ensure effective utilization of maintenance resources.
Drive initiatives that improve equipment efficiency while maintaining safety, quality and production requirements.
6. Team Capability Building
Build the technical and maintenance capability of technicians and shift teams.
Coach technicians to independently operate, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain equipment and utilities.
Develop and implement technical training plans based on identified capability gaps.
Qualify and coach next-level technical/SWP owners and develop future technical leaders.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in relevant utilities/equipment categories and conduct technical training for the plant.
7. Projects, Change Management & Technology
Support new initiatives, equipment upgrades, utilities projects and commissioning activities.
Partner with relevant teams for installation, commissioning, stabilization and handover of new or modified equipment/systems.
Drive Change Management for technical changes implemented on the line.
Support spares localization, vendor development and maintenance optimization.
Represent the department/site as the technical subject matter expert in relevant regional and global technology forums.
8. Safety, Compliance & Governance
Ensure all maintenance and utilities activities comply with safety, statutory and environmental requirements.
Ensure adherence to applicable plant standards, maintenance procedures and audit requirements.
Drive compliance and closure of actions arising from internal/external audits.
Promote a strong safety culture across technicians, contractors and operations teams.
What You Will Bring
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics or related Engineering discipline.
Relevant technical certifications in maintenance, utilities, energy management or TPM would be an advantage.
Experience
8–12+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, utilities, maintenance, reliability or technical operations.
Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, Consumer Goods, Pharma, Chemical or other process/manufacturing industries preferred.
Strong hands-on experience in manufacturing utilities and equipment maintenance.
Experience managing technicians, contractors and technical teams.
