Description

Partnerships for Parks (PfP) is a public-private partnership of NYC Parks and City Parks Foundation (CPF) that supports and champions a diverse network of partners caring and advocating for neighborhood parks and green spaces. We equip people, organizations, and government with resources and opportunities to ensure these spaces are dynamic community assets.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and lead citywide It’s My Park (IMP) volunteer projects, in collaboration with other PfP staff and under the direction of the Corporate Program Manager
  • Provide motivation, supervision, and hands-on guidance to volunteers in an outdoor environment at beautification projects, including clean-ups, horticulture, and painting
  • Liaise with NYC Parks Maintenance & Operations and PfP staff to ensure supply deliveries and returns
  • Manage supply inventory for borough storehouses, including organizing and compiling tool orders and conduct site visits
  • Support special events, workshops, and other PfP initiatives as needed
  • Follow best safety practices for leading volunteers, as determined by PfP
 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work, volunteer management, or stewardship efforts related to duties described above
 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Reliable and able to work a flexible schedule (early morning events and possibly a few weekends)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather and carry supplies within a park
  • Experience working with volunteers, especially in parks or gardens and/or environmental education
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, and independently, and with diverse constituencies
  • College degree and related community experience as described above
  • Computer literacy, especially in Google Suite

We connect youngsters to nature in the urban environment through progressive, experiential teaching. Using parks as classrooms, we provide learning experiences and hands-on activities in urban forests, coastal areas, and gardens.

Free golf, tennis, track & field, soccer, and fitness programs bring high-quality instruction and equipment into areas where few organized athletic opportunities exist. We offer leveled training, year-round scholarship coaching, and special pro events.
