  • Support the end to end post-award lifecycle for UQ's research grants through the accurate administration of grant agreements, project establishment, project variations, reporting requirements and compliance processes that enable research success.

About This Opportunity

The Awards Officer plays a critical role in supporting UQ's post-award research funding function through the accurate administration, establishment and ongoing management of research grants. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will spend a significant portion of your day coordinating grant documentation, processing project establishment activities, managing project variations, monitoring reporting obligations and ensuring compliance with University and funding provider requirements. You will work closely with researchers, funding bodies and professional staff across UQ, balancing detailed administrative work with stakeholder engagement to enable successful research outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Administer a high volume of post-award research funding activities, including project establishment, grant agreement processing, project variations and reporting requirements.

  • Review, prepare and coordinate research funding documentation, ensuring compliance with University policies, procedures and funding provider requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records, monitor project milestones and contractual obligations, and manage workflow tasks to support timely research activation and delivery.

  • Liaise with researchers, funding providers and internal stakeholders to resolve administrative and funding management issues and provide professional advice and support.

About You

You are a highly organised administrator who enjoys working in a detailed, process driven environment. You can manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy across large volumes of work, and build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience in research administration, grants administration, project administration, contract administration, compliance, governance or a related field. Previous experience in research grant administration or post-award research management will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated experience managing high volumes of documentation, workflows and administrative processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience reviewing, preparing and administering complex documents, with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and contractual requirements in a complex environment.

  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and identify practical solutions to funding management issues.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to provide professional, customer-focused support and build effective working relationships across a diverse organisation.
