Description
The Allan Hancock College Tutorial Center department is accepting applications for temporary Program Assistant III for the Santa Maria campus.
- Provide front-counter support for the Tutorial Center.
- Performs other related functions as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Office management techniques and organizational skills;
- Knowledge of customer service techniques and effective communication strategies to assist students, faculty, and staff with tutoring center services and resources
- Written business communications; various data bases;
- Word/information processing applications and production;
- Records management;
- Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
- Formatting;
- Office methods, procedures, and equipment, including filing systems, and receptionist and telephone techniques.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Work independently, organize work load, and establish priorities;
- Learn and interpret specific rules, procedures, regulations, and policies, and apply them with good judgment in a variety of procedural situations, and establish and maintain office records and files.
Working Conditions:
- Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, at a desk, or at a computer.
- The incumbent will experience interruptions while performing normal duties during the regular workday.
Physical Demands:
- Typically may sit for extended periods of time.
- Operates a computer.
- Regularly lifts, carries, and/or moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Special Qualification:
A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.
The completion of 12th grade OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
The successful candidate must pass a Department of Justice clearance before the start date.
Desired Start Date: As soon as possible, contingent upon completion of the hiring process
Salary: $20.00 per hour
Department Operating Hours: Monday - Thursday, 3:15 PM – 8:00 PM
- This is a part-time, 10-month, temporary assignment.
- The anticipated duration of the assignment is through June 2027, depending on departmental needs.
