- Reviews the documentation in the record to identify all pertinent facts necessary to select the comprehensive diagnoses and procedures that fully describe the patients’ conditions and treatment.
- Verify required billing information, assigning accurate ICD-10 codes and reviewing for CPT accuracy and modifiers.
- Respond to all requests for assistance in resolving issues related to coding and billing.
- Serve as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and personnel for all coding and billing matters
- Assists with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
- Prepares case reports and initiates follow-up for billing process.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field
- Knowledge of surgery coding a plus
- Minimum 2-years surgery coding experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and related computer systems
