Vice President, Enterprise Quality & Automation

About the Role

As Vice President of Enterprise Quality & Automation, you will own the quality our clients and operations actually experience across pharmacy and medical — from requirements and vendor execution through UAT, release readiness, defect management, automation, and AI enablement.

Quality isn't produced by any single team. It takes shape across the entire delivery process. This leader works across Product, Technology, Operations, and vendors to set quality standards, surface risk early, and align everyone toward shared outcomes. The VP will also help define how far this capability should go, from strengthening quality today, to establishing a durable operating model, to evolving quality, automation, and testing into scalable commercial offerings over time. The path is not fully defined by design: we want a leader who is energized by ambiguity and eager to shape the strategy and roadmap rather than inherit them. This role reports into the SVP, Operations, and will build and lead a team of four to six direct reports at the Director level. The leader will help shape how that team is structured and grows over time.

How You Will Make an Impact 

Strategy & Operating Model

• Define the enterprise quality strategy and target operating model across pharmacy and medical.
• Establish quality standards, governance, and release-readiness criteria across the lifecycle, in partnership with delivery teams.
• Recommend and sequence the operating model with a transition roadmap, metrics, and governance.

Partnership & Governance

• Partner with Product, Technology, Operations, and vendors to align on quality expectations and shared accountability.
• Provide independent assessments of quality, readiness, and risk to inform executive and delivery decisions.
• Strengthen how requirements, UAT, and release readiness work together across organizations.

AI & Automation

• Set the AI and automation strategy for quality: predictive analytics, defect prediction, release-risk assessment, and intelligent automation.
• Build the business case for investment and quantify impact on quality, speed, and cost.
• Establish responsible, auditable AI practices appropriate to a regulated healthcare environment.

Defect Management & Continuous Improvement

• Lead enterprise defect management, root-cause analysis, and defect-leakage reduction.
• Define quality metrics that measure outcomes and inform decisions.
• Build a continuous-improvement engine that raises quality and lowers cost over time.

Vendor Quality & Scalable Delivery

• Set quality expectations and accountability for vendor execution, and manage vendor and offshore delivery models toward scalable, multi-customer delivery.
• Assess and, if warranted, build quality and testing capabilities into a commercial service offering.

Leadership

• Build and lead a high-performing enterprise quality function with clear accountability and metrics.
• Communicate credibly at the executive level, translating quality into business impact.
• Bring clarity to open-ended problems and lead cross-organizational change.

Scope & Boundaries

This leader owns enterprise quality strategy, standards, and outcomes, and partners closely with the teams who own delivery. The role is designed to work through influence and shared accountability, and how the team is built out will take shape with the leader who steps into it.

• Leads: enterprise quality strategy, standards, and governance; quality metrics, defect and root-cause management, and release-readiness criteria; the automation and AI strategy for quality; and an independent view of quality, readiness, and risk.
• Partners on: requirements (Product), solution design (Technology), UAT and operational readiness (Operations), and vendor execution; setting quality expectations and driving alignment, while these teams own their own delivery.

The Team You'll Build (Illustrative Starting Point)

This is a starting structure, not a fixed design. The incoming VP will shape how it evolves.

• Director, Test Operations: SIT, regression, release testing, defect management, test planning
• Director, UAT & Business Validation: Cognizant and customer UAT, business UAT, end-to-end testing readiness
• Director, Quality Engineering & Automation: automation, AI-enabled testing, performance testing, frameworks, tooling
• Director, Testing Services & Vendor Strategy: vendor management, RFP support, capacity planning, Testing-as-a-Service commercialization

Required Experience

• Significant leadership experience in enterprise quality or quality assurance, across in-house and vendor/partner-based delivery.
• Demonstrated experience defining and standing up a quality operating model, governance, or transformation at scale across multiple organizations.
• Track record of driving quality outcomes through partnership and governance rather than direct ownership of delivery teams.
• Strong command of quality metrics, defect management, root-cause analysis, UAT, and release readiness.
• Practical experience applying AI/ML and automation to quality, with a clear point of view on where they create value.
• Experience managing vendor and offshore delivery models and holding partners accountable to quality standards.
• Comfort operating amid ambiguity — defining strategy and structure where none yet exists and leading change.
• Executive-level communication that translates quality into business impact.
• Healthcare experience, particularly pharmacy claims and PBM; medical claims and health plan experience.

What Sets You Apart

• Experience commercializing an internal capability into an external service offering.
• Background with large-scale platform migrations and complex, multi-system integration.
• P&L or commercial ownership experience.
