Job Summary
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory Assistant to support the accurate management of stock and inventory records.
The successful candidate will assist with receiving, recording, storing, issuing, and monitoring stock, while ensuring that inventory records are accurate and up to date. The role requires someone who is comfortable working with numbers, maintaining records, and conducting regular physical stock checks.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming products, materials, and supplies and verify quantities against delivery documents.
- Record all stock received, issued, transferred, and returned accurately.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory records and stock cards.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile quantities with inventory records.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, excess stock, damaged goods, or discrepancies.
- Assist with proper storage and organization of products and materials within the warehouse.
- Ensure products are properly labelled and arranged for easy identification and movement.
- Support the preparation of stock reports and inventory summaries.
- Assist with stock-taking exercises and periodic inventory audits.
- Monitor product expiry dates and ensure appropriate stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
- Verify that goods issued from the store are properly documented and authorized.
- Maintain accurate records of damaged, expired, or returned products.
- Work closely with the warehouse, procurement, sales, production, and finance teams on inventory-related matters.
- Assist in investigating inventory discrepancies and recommend corrective action.
- Ensure proper filing of delivery notes, goods received notes, issue vouchers, stock count sheets, and other inventory documents.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and proper organization of the inventory/storage area.
- Follow company procedures relating to inventory control, health and safety, and loss prevention.
- Perform other inventory and warehouse-related duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Form Four Certificate, Certificate, or Diploma in Store Management, Procurement & Supplies, Logistics, Inventory Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in inventory, stores, warehouse, logistics, or FMCG operations.
- Experience working with stock records, stock counts, and inventory reconciliation.
- Experience in the FMCG, food processing, manufacturing, or distribution sector will be an added advantage.
- Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
- Basic computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience using inventory management or ERP systems will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of stock control and warehouse procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, organized, responsible, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to conduct physical stock counts and work in a warehouse environment.
