SPECIALIST II – EH&S
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support our manufacturing operations by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting a safe workplace. This role is ideal for an early-career EHS professional looking to grow their expertise in a dynamic industrial environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SPECIALIST II – EH&S
Health and Safety
Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions .
Support safety training programs, including onboarding, PPE usage, and emergency response .
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, and compliance activities.
Monitor and report on environmental metrics including waste, emissions, and water usage.
Assist with environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory submissions (e.g., EPA, state agencies) .
Support hazardous waste management and chemical inventory tracking.
Participate in sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement EHS initiatives and drive continuous improvement .
Maintain and update EHS documentation, procedures, and management systems.
Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIRED FOR THE SPECIALIST II – EH&S
High School Diploma with 8 years of experience or associate’s degree with 3-5 years of experience. Four-year college degree in related safety science field or engineering. CSP, CIH or other professional certificates preferred.
3-5 years of safety or manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of instructional methods and techniques, of agency, professional and/or industry standards and practices, of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles of production, processing, storage and distribution of manufactured goods, and of applicable measurement and/or sampling methods and technologies.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize time and workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines, and to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.
Ability to develop and/or implement new policies/procedures/standards and/or rules/regulations, and to lead the work of others by monitoring, reviewing, training co-workers and/or delegating work.
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, to identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities, to provide consultation and/or expert advice or testimony, to deliver presentations or training using acceptable methods and techniques, to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing, to speak before a group of people, and to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
