Houseperson - The Bayview Hotel

The Bayview Hotel is looking for a dependable and hardworking Houseperson to join our seasonal team at one of our beautiful coastal Maine properties. This part-time seasonal position has the opportunity to transition into a full-time seasonal role as business needs increase and the season gets underway.

As a Houseperson, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Housekeeping team and helping keep our guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces clean, stocked, and organized. From delivering linens and supplies to maintaining common areas and responding to housekeeping needs, your work helps ensure our guests have a clean, comfortable, and welcoming experience throughout their stay.

Position Details:

• Schedule: Part-time, seasonal with the opportunity to transition to full-time seasonal
• Hours: Part-time hours to start, with the potential to increase to 40 hours/week as business needs increase
• Shifts: Morning, weekend, and holiday availability required
• Location: The Bayview Hotel located in Bar Harbor, Maine
• Pay: Starting at $17.25/hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Housekeeping Attendants by delivering clean linens, towels, amenities, and other supplies to guest rooms and housekeeping areas
• Collect and transport dirty linens, towels, and trash to designated areas
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of hallways, stairways, public areas, and other assigned spaces
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining common areas as needed
• Keep housekeeping carts, closets, storage areas, and workspaces clean, stocked, and organized
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of housekeeping supplies and equipment
• Respond promptly to requests from the Housekeeping team and other departments
• Report maintenance, safety, or guest room concerns to the appropriate team
• Assist with moving furniture, mattresses, rollaway beds, and other items as needed
• Help ensure guest areas are clean, orderly, and ready for arrival
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
• Provide friendly and respectful service when interacting with guests
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the property

Skills & Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Comfortable with physical tasks, including bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing or walking for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working at a fast pace while maintaining a positive attitude
• Prior hotel, housekeeping, or cleaning experience is helpful, but not required
• Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Performance Measurement:

Performance will be measured through a 90-day performance review, housekeeping and public area inspection standards, timely completion of assigned tasks, teamwork contributions, and guest satisfaction.
