Description
The Meliore Foundation plays an active role in helping create greater political, media, and public endorsement for action on climate change at international, national, and sectoral levels.
Within this mission, the Meliore Foundation’s Junior Finance Officer role is a key piece to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our accounts payable. The role combines hands-on financial responsibilities with oversight of systems and processes, while offering meaningful opportunities to grow and collaborate within the Finance Team.
Reporting directly to Payments and Accounting Lead, the Junior Finance Officer serves as the primary point of contact for staff expense reimbursements. The postholder will support daily operations for the Finance Team and ensure compliance to guarantee that systems and practices meet the needs of a fast-growing, international, mission-driven organisation. The role also offers opportunities to broaden into bank reconciliations, invoice processing and company card management as part of the ongoing development of the Finance team.
How you'll contribute
As Junior Finance Officer you will:

- Support the day-to-day coordination by managing the team calendar for meetings, maintaining internal data resources, and coordinating with other teams.
- Coordinate the planning of occasional in-person events and execute other ad hoc team organisational tasks.
- Work with other members of the team to undertake financial due diligence for new and existing grantees, consultants and service providers
Staff Expenses and Compliance:
- Review staff expense reimbursements and ensure they comply with our reimbursement policy.
- Communicate with submitters and approvers on any necessary corrections or clarifications.
- Work towards staff expense reimbursements are within our objective of payment within 30 days since submission.
- Monitor and provide guidance on the Reimbursement Policy and general submission queries from staff and partners.
Company Card administration:
- Monitor company card creation, activation, delivery coordination and successful distribution.
- Act on and streamline company card requests.
- Opportunity to grow within this responsibility.
Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other Finance officers to align on priorities and urgent tasks.
- Act as point of contact for finance operational queries within the team.
- Provide daily support to our network and external stakeholders regarding expense submissions, policy guidelines and process inquiries.
- Collaborate with colleagues across finance and other departments to ensure smooth and integrated financial operations.
- Assist the Payment and Accounting Lead with the execution of the payment runs.
- Other related tasks and responsibilities as agreed with the line manager.
Our ideal candidate has
- Experience working within a finance team, ideally in a non-profit sector.
- Experience in expense processing and/or other accounts payable workflows and policy compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft and Google suites. Especially Excel & Google sheets
- Experience with NetSuite and expense processing tools is an advantage.
- Logical, organised and structural approach to problems.
- Ability to identify issues and investigate/escalate in a professional and timely manner
- The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
- The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across phone/video conferencing, time zones, Slack, email, etc.
