Product Lifecycle Engineer – Optical Encoder Technology

Up to £50,000 depending on experience
The Product Lifecycle Engineer leads and implements product obsolescence activities. This role is responsible for developing and executing technical and commercial strategies to phase out products smoothly across Renishaw’s optical product range.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Product Marketing, engineering teams, subsidiaries, and customers to understand technical requirements and support migration from obsolete products to suitable alternatives within the portfolio.
Develop supporting materials and help define upgrade paths.
Analyse sales data to support decisions on obsolete components.
Create presentations to support lifecycle strategy and communicate it clearly to subsidiaries and internal stakeholders.
Manage specific obsolescence programmes
Liaise with forecasting to develop end of life forecast
Build relationships with subsidiaries to gather information and support obsolescence
Key requirements
HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering / STEM discipline
Knowledge and experience of coordinating product obsolescence programmes
Ability to make educated assumptions and forecasting decisions
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Understand MRP/ERP manufacturing processes
Desirable
Understanding of metrology and optical measurement technology
Experience with Renishaw products
Problem solving experience
Experience with working with remote team members
Understanding of encoder production processes
Person specification
The successful candidate will have a high level of self-motivation and be a team player, with a positive attitude to problem solving. They will be pro-active, a completer, and flexible in their approach with the ability to view the bigger picture.
