Who’s the Right Fit?
We are looking for IN-HOME, in-person Primary/Junior Reading Specialists to support students throughout Mississauga. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, committed to student success, and skilled at creating engaging, personalized learning experiences.
Qualified candidates will have experience teaching or tutoring primary/junior students and be comfortable providing IN-HOME, in-person instruction, with the option to support students online as needed. Strong familiarity with the Ontario curriculum and the ability to tailor instruction to individual student needs are essential.
As a Prep Academy Tutor, You Will:
- Provide personalized academic coaching and support aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
- Help students strengthen foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and other subject areas.
- Develop customized lesson plans and supplemental assignments that promote deeper understanding and academic growth.
- Provide targeted remedial support to students who require additional assistance.
- Offer enrichment opportunities and challenging activities for students looking to extend their learning.
- Adapt instructional strategies and learning activities to meet individual student needs, including students requiring special education support.
- Build students’ confidence, independence, and motivation as learners.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for improvement.
- Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking knowledgeable, compassionate, and enthusiastic educators who meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Hold current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
- Are qualified to teach in another Canadian Province or Territory outside of Ontario.
- Are a certified teacher in Canada or the United States (or are in the process of becoming one).
- Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program.
- Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited Canadian college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or tutoring Primary/Junior students.
- Experience providing academic coaching or individualized instruction.
- Specialized experience in reading intervention, literacy instruction, or special education.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Primary/Junior curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for working with students and families.
- A commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- The ability to develop engaging, individualized learning experiences.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to students’ homes throughout Mississauga.
