Unit Manager (Non-Clinical)

Location: Fountains Lodge Care Home, 13 - 17 London Road, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells TN4 0RJ

Contract: Permanent – Full Time

Hours: 44 hours per week on a rota basis

Salary: £17.10 per hour

Fountains Lodge provides personalised nursing and residential care to people living with cognitive impairments, including dementia care. The purpose built home in Tunbridge Wells offers short stays too (including palliative care), to help both carers and their loved ones at times when they need a break or a little extra support.

All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and offer en suite facilities, while some come with patio doors providing direct garden access. It also has a suite suitable for couples.

The home has its own café as well as lounges and private dining areas for family and friends to come and enjoy when visiting their loved ones or celebrating a birthday or anniversary together.

Situated in Southborough, the home is a few minutes from all its amenities – shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and has good transport and road links, making it ideally located for visiting family and friends.

Staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Fountains Lodge, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether your loved one already has a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

  • Whether you’re taking charge of a unit or a floor, you’ll promote our resident’s independence, choice and dignity by ensuring that the team provide the highest standards of care at all times
  • With the help of your team, you’ll assess each resident’s wellbeing – making sure their physical, emotional and social needs are met – always maintaining accurate records
  • Delivering clinical guidance to your team, you’ll lead by example; motivating and mentoring the team to ensure the safe, smooth and efficient running of the care home
  • You’ll build lasting relationships with the residents and the people they care about, as well as caring about the home itself - fostering a sense of community
  • Creating and developing strong relationships with local partners, you will liaise with these partners, playing an important role in raising the care home’s profile in the local area and beyond

  

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Experienced NVQ Level 5 qualified Care Assistant, or Senior Carer with medication experience.
  • You’re passionate about caring for the elderly and infirm (change as necessary) and have a flair for helping people maintain their independence, choice and dignity
  • An effective communicator who’s able to build strong and honest relationships with residents and their families
  • Someone who’s ready to use their experience to lead, motivate and mentor a team – who’s able to delegate effectively and promote excellent customer service and relationships.
  • A respectful and compassionate team player with the belief in giving your personal best.
