What you will have an opportunity to do:

Banquet Set-Up Associate | Marriott Colorado Springs

Before the first guest walks through the door, before the first plate is served, before any event becomes the memory it was meant to be, someone has to build the room. Every table placed with precision. Every chair aligned. Every linen draped and every centerpiece positioned exactly where it belongs. The room has to be right, and it has to be right on time, whether that means you are starting your shift at 5am or finishing it well into the early hours of the next morning.

That is the work of a Banquet Set-Up Associate, and it is work that takes real pride, real attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to show up when the event calendar calls for it, not just when it is convenient.

We are looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented, and team-first Banquet Set-Up Associate to join our events team at the Marriott Colorado Springs. If you are someone who takes satisfaction in a perfectly prepared room, can adapt quickly when plans change at the last minute, and understands that great events are built on great preparation, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Banquet Set-Up Associate, you are the foundation of every event that takes place in this building. You are responsible for transforming our event spaces from empty rooms into exactly what our clients envisioned, and then returning them to a clean, organized, and ready state once the event is over. You will work from Banquet Event Orders to execute setups that meet the exact specifications of each function, and you will do it with the pace, precision, and professionalism that a world-class property demands.

This is an on-call position, which means your schedule is driven by the event calendar rather than a fixed weekly routine. Shifts may start as early as 4am or run well into the early morning hours depending on the event. Flexibility is not optional in this role; it is the core requirement. If you are someone who can commit to that kind of availability and finds real value in being part of a high-performing events team, this role offers meaningful work and real opportunity to grow.

On-call associates are required to work a minimum of five shifts per quarter to remain active in this position. That minimum exists to ensure you stay current with our procedures and standards and remain a reliable part of the team when events need coverage.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Setting up banquet rooms according to the exact specifications of each Banquet Event Order, including arranging tables, chairs, staging, linens, table skirting, and any additional requested items
  • Ensuring all meeting and event spaces are laid out precisely to BEO specifications before every event start time, with no detail left unverified
  • Inspecting completed room setups to confirm proper standards and quality control before guests or clients arrive
  • Assisting with lighting, sound, and AV equipment setup as needed for events
  • Coordinating with banquet captains and event managers throughout the shift to ensure all setups meet client expectations and any last-minute changes are handled quickly and professionally
  • Breaking down and resetting banquet spaces after events, including proper storage of tables, chairs, linens, and equipment
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in back hallways, storage rooms, and all setup equipment areas throughout every shift
  • Reporting and addressing any maintenance issues, equipment damage, or safety hazards promptly and communicating them to the appropriate team
  • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and flexibility when accommodating last-minute changes, client requests, or schedule adjustments
  • Supporting the banquet team in other capacities as needed to ensure the overall success of every event
  • Maintaining a minimum of five shifts per quarter to remain active in this on-call position

Schedule and Availability Requirements

This is an on-call position and the schedule is entirely event-driven. That means no two weeks look the same and flexibility is the expectation, not the exception. Shifts may begin as early as 4am for early morning conference setups or run late into the early morning hours following an evening event. You may work a morning shift one day and an evening shift the next depending on what is on the event calendar.

Weekend and holiday availability is required. Many of our most significant events take place on weekends and our setup team needs to be there. On-call associates must work a minimum of five shifts per quarter to maintain active status. Associates who fall below that minimum without an approved reason will be considered inactive.

If you are someone who needs a predictable, fixed schedule, this role is not the right fit. If you are someone who values flexibility, enjoys variety in your workday, and can commit to being available when the event calendar requires it, this is a rewarding opportunity with a team that genuinely values what you bring.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong attention to detail; you do not finish a room until it is exactly right and you check your work before you walk away
  • Genuine flexibility and a positive attitude toward a schedule that changes based on business needs; early mornings and late nights are both part of this role
  • The ability to adapt quickly when priorities shift, BEOs change, or last-minute requests come in from event managers or clients
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; you coordinate with captains and managers throughout every shift and your ability to communicate clearly matters
  • A proactive approach to safety; you identify hazards, address broken equipment, and report issues before they become problems during an event
  • A self-directed work ethic; you read the BEO, you execute the setup, and you do not need to be walked through every step
  • A genuine commitment to the minimum shift requirement; this role requires consistent participation to remain active and effective
  • Prior experience in banquet setup or a similar role is preferred but not required; we will train the right person

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in banquet setup, event operations, or a similar hospitality role is preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and execute setups based on Banquet Event Orders accurately and independently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work on every setup
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities without losing focus or composure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with captains, managers, and fellow team members
  • Knowledge of and commitment to safety standards; ability to proactively identify and address potential hazards
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active on your feet for the full duration of a shift
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move heavy objects including tables, chairs, and staging equipment; frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable with bending, reaching, squatting, and moving quickly throughout event spaces
  • Fully flexible availability including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Physical Requirements

This is a highly physical, hands-on role for the full duration of every shift. You should be comfortable standing and moving continuously, lifting and carrying tables, chairs, staging, and equipment up to 50 lbs. or more, bending, reaching, and squatting throughout setup and breakdown, and working at a sustained pace to meet event start time deadlines. Shifts can be long and physically demanding depending on the event, and physical stamina is an essential part of performing this role well.

Who Thrives Here

The Banquet Set-Up Associates who do their best work here are the ones who take genuine ownership of every room they build. They read the BEO carefully before they start, they set up precisely to spec, and they walk the room before they sign off because they want it to be right, not just finished. When a captain comes in and asks for a last-minute change, they handle it without complaint because they understand that flexibility is part of what makes a great events team.

They also show up. This is an on-call position, which means the team is counting on the associates on the list to be available when events need coverage. Associates who treat the minimum shift requirement as a guideline rather than a commitment do not last long in this role, and that is not the kind of teammate this team is built on.

If you are someone who finds real satisfaction in a perfectly prepared room, who can handle an early alarm or a late finish without it affecting the quality of your work, and who takes pride in being a reliable part of a high-performing team, this is a role worth your time.
