Vice President, Technology Risk ManagmentOverviewThe Vice President, Technology Risk Management leads the Program Controls, Operations & Modernization (ProCOM) Technology Risk Management function and is responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously enhancing the risk, controls, resilience, and operational governance capabilities that support Mastercard's technology organization. This role provides strategic leadership for enterprise technology risk management, ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed, managed, and reported while maintaining alignment with regulatory expectations, enterprise risk frameworks, and Mastercard's commitment to operational excellence.
The position serves as a key partner to technology, product, engineering, security, and business leaders to drive a strong culture of risk ownership, control effectiveness, production readiness, resilience, and continuous improvement. Through standardized governance practices, risk intelligence, operational insights, and control frameworks, this role enables informed decision-making, strengthens organizational accountability, and supports the scalable growth of Mastercard's products, platforms, and technology services. The Vice President is accountable for advancing ProCOM's vision of delivering integrated risk management, governance, operational readiness, and modernization capabilities that improve technology outcomes and enhance customer trust.
Role
- Define and execute the strategic vision, operating model, and roadmap for Technology Risk Management within ProCOM.
- Lead the development, implementation, and governance of technology risk frameworks, methodologies, standards, procedures, and controls across the technology organization.
- Establish and oversee enterprise-wide processes for technology risk identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring, escalation, and reporting.
- Drive consistent adoption of risk management, operational resilience, production readiness, and control practices across products, platforms, and engineering organizations.
- Provide executive oversight of technology risk portfolios, key risk indicators, control effectiveness measures, issue remediation activities, and emerging risk trends.
- Lead governance forums and executive reporting processes that communicate technology risk posture, operational health, resilience metrics, and strategic priorities.
- Partner with Technology, Product, Security, Compliance, Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee technology control governance activities, including standards compliance, audit readiness, risk assessments, control validation, and evidence management.
- Drive the evolution of risk intelligence capabilities by leveraging operational data, analytics, automation, and insights to support proactive risk management and decision-making.
- Champion operational resilience initiatives and ensure technology risks are considered throughout the lifecycle of products, services, platforms, and major technology change programs.
- Lead organizational efforts to identify systemic control gaps, recurring operational issues, and opportunities to strengthen risk management effectiveness.
- Establish and monitor meaningful risk, resilience, and governance metrics that provide leadership with actionable insights into technology performance and exposure.
- Drive automation, process improvement, and modernization initiatives that reduce operational toil and improve efficiency across risk and governance processes.
- Build, develop, and lead high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology risk strategy, resilience, governance, and operational readiness matters.
All About You
- Extensive leadership experience in technology risk management, operational risk, governance, controls, cybersecurity, technology operations, audit, compliance, or related disciplines.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale risk, governance, resilience, or operational transformation programs in complex global technology environments.
- Deep understanding of technology risk management frameworks, control environments, operational resilience principles, and regulatory expectations.
- Experience establishing and scaling governance models, risk management programs, controls frameworks, and executive oversight mechanisms.
- Strong knowledge of technology operations, engineering practices, service management, production readiness, and operational risk management concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex technical and operational risks and translate them into clear business impacts, priorities, and actions.
- Experience leading executive communications, board-level reporting, governance forums, and regulator-facing engagements.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to balance risk management objectives with speed, innovation, and business growth.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across executive leadership, technology teams, and control functions.
- Proven success building, coaching, and developing high-performing global teams.
- Experience leveraging analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance governance, risk management, and operational decision-making.

Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $189,000 - $312,000 USD
