Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority for structural engineering across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Lead the design and coordination of structural elements within treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure.
- Provide expert technical input from early development and tender stages through to construction and handover.
- Manage and coordinate external designers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Hands on attitude with strong analytical skills and ability to perform calculations using both relevant design codes and first principles.
- Ensure integration between civil, geotechnical, process and other disciplines.
- Identify, assess and manage technical risks and opportunities in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with UK standards, Eurocodes, and Ferrovial engineering governance requirements.
- Promote innovation, value engineering, digital engineering and standardisation of design solutions.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure structural designs are practical, buildable and aligned with delivery strategies.
About You
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure projects with significant structural scope, particularly within the water sector.
- Strong background in reinforced concrete and steel structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary interfaces and complex project environments.
- In-depth knowledge of UK design standards, Eurocodes and construction practices.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Desirable: Experience in designing and managing temporary works.
