Overview
NaphCare is partnering with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to hire a Group Facilitator and/or Recreational Therapist to join our THRIVE Jail Based Treatment Program (JBTP) that operates as a 30-bed adult specialized behavioral health unit at Washoe County Detention Facility in Reno, NV.
**This is not a remote position.
The THRIVE Jail-Based Treatment Program provides specialized behavioral health services for patients awaiting transfer to state hospital for court-ordered treatment. The program provides intensive multidisciplinary treatment in a therapeutic environment. The ultimate goal is to improve patients’ health and welfare in sustainable ways and enable them to move forward with their legal situation.

As a Correctional Group Facilitator and/or Recreational Therapist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide counseling and mental health care to the individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health and medical needs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Contributing member of the multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team
- Assess patients to inform intervention planning initially and on a periodic basis
- Facilitate and document mental health recreation therapy groups
- Facilitate and document incentivization program for patient treatment participation
- Coordinate with healthcare and custody staff regarding patients’ mental health care
- Participate in educational and training activities related to mental healthcare, security, and restoration
- Demonstrate general knowledge of mental health treatment provision
Qualifications
Position Requirements/Preferred Experience:

- Bachelor’s prepared candidate in recreational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, mental health, or closely related field
- Recreational Therapist certification (or allied field such as Expressive Arts or Occupational Therapy), or other experience and/or skills representative of the position functions
- Preferred (not required): At least 1 year of experience, including working with adults living with serious mental illness and/or in a correctional or adult inpatient mental health environment
- Preferred (not required): Experience planning/administering recreation therapy to mental health patients

Physical Capabilities:
WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to work and sit in front of a computer approximately 4 hours per day
· Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time to provide group treatment (30-60 minutes)
· Light physical work involving lifting bending and carrying up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
· Talking and listening to communicate effectively with team members.
· Ability to work under pressure
