Job Summary:
The Working Supervisor is an integral part of the operations team. This position is a highly technically skilled position and responsible for maintaining a high level of efficiency and productivity. During downtime, assign tasks to employees to ensure a high level of productivity and product quality is achieved. This person must be able to interact positively with all team members in a manner to maximize established goals. This person should act as a role model and set the example for the team. In addition, this individual must demonstrate acute troubleshooting skills as well as a full understanding of the consisting of homogenization, pasteurization equipment, pumps, valves, controls, fillers, and packaging line machines.
• Ensure housekeeping and GMP’s are at the highest level in the processing and filling areas.
• Ensure the cleaning of the Fillers and related equipment, i.e. tanks and lines are cleaned both through CIP and manual exterior cleaning meet established standards.
• Ensure product batch meets quality specifications and is homogenized and processed in a manner, which meets the scrutiny of regulatory and customer specifications. Also ensure that the finished package meets all plant and customer requirements pertaining to container integrity and coding. Complete GMP inspections.
• Ensure operations by department run at a high level of efficiency, overseeing changeovers, providing guidance and technical assistance as necessary to minimize downtime.
• Verify all production documentation is complete and accurate.
• Perform root cause analysis for establish preventive measure for downtime. Apply CI techniques and methodology.
• Assist & communicate to ensure all lines are running at standard to meet OEE expectations.
• Provide new hire operator training support. Document training and training follow-up.
• Review SOP’s and Procedures to ensure they are up to date and being followed.
• Review rework inventory as needed and communicate findings to Supervisor.
• Promote safety programs and policies in order to reduce the number of safety incidents and near-misses.
• Trains and instructs employees regarding production and equipment standards and processes.
• Comply with federal, state and local dairy food regulations.
• Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
• Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
• Other duties as required by management.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2-years’ experience in a food manufacturing, dairy food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
• Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications is a plus, but not required.
• Strong math skills.
• Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications, SAP preferred.
• Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on deficiencies.
• Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
• Ability to select, lead, coach, influence, motivate, develop, engage and retain a team of employees.
• Ability to understand cost containment and continuous improvement principles.
• Shift flexibility. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 3-shift, 24/7 operation to support manufacturing. This can either be days, swing or night shift and weekends. Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
• Noise >85Db with hearing protection.
• Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.
• Physical lifting up to 40-lbs frequently throughout the shift unassisted and lift 50+ lbs with assistance.
• Good visual acuity to include the ability to see and differentiate color.
