About the Role
As a Senior IoT Software Developer within Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, you will design, develop, deploy, and support industrial IoT and automation software solutions for manufacturing and logistics. You will contribute to Digital Factory and Harman Meta Factory initiatives, create reusable software libraries and programming standards, and integrate connected equipment with enterprise and cloud-based applications. This is a senior individual contributor role working with Regional AME, Global IT, operational teams, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.
What You Will Do
Design, implement, support, validate, commission, and hand over automation processes and Digital Factory / Industry 4.0 developments to operational teams, including Harman Meta Factory initiatives.
Develop and deploy IoT platforms and their hardware, firmware, and software components.
Develop software interfaces and APIs for seamless integration of robots, automation equipment, and other systems.
Develop and deploy reusable Harman software libraries on the standard software platform.
Identify, evaluate, and introduce manufacturing and software technologies, with a strong focus on software standardisation.
Lead the introduction, integration, and standardisation of automation equipment and technologies sourced from Chinese manufacturers.
Evaluate PLC and IoT technologies and identify, assess, audit, and support the improvement of suppliers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on robotic IoT systems for manufacturing and logistics applications.
Support integration of newly designed equipment together with Regional AME and Global IT.
Maintain technical alignment with global suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
Develop and maintain programming standards, process standards, technical documentation, and software version-control processes.
Prepare training materials and deliver training on new software technologies to colleagues and operators.
Support industrial connectivity solutions, including OPC UA and MQTT, and participate in Digital Factory use-case experiments.
Ensure compliance with applicable ISO/TS 16949, occupational health and safety, fire safety, ESD, housekeeping, and environmental requirements.
What You Need to Be Successful
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
At least 5 years of experience in industrial machine building and programming, or at least 5 years of industrial maintenance-support experience.
A thorough understanding of Hands-on experience with automation equipment, industrial machines, PLCs, or IoT implementation projects.
Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT and object-oriented PLC programming.
Professional software development experience using C# and Python.
Experience with Git-based version control and maintainable software-development practices.
Experience with databases and software-system architecture.
A solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
Ability to develop test scripts from high-level manual test steps.
Demonstrable knowledge of excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Experience working in international projects and collaborating with global partners.
Bonus Points if You Have
Practical experience with industrial connectivity technologies, particularly OPC UA and MQTT.
Experience with Digital Factory, Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, or robotic IoT use cases.
Experience evaluating, auditing, or developing automation suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
Experience creating reusable software libraries, programming standards, and controlled versioning processes.
Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
SAP knowledge.
Experience integrating automation solutions from Chinese suppliers into global manufacturing standards.
