This position is for a Postdoctoral Associate who will perform key experiments in the Laboratory of Advanced Biomaterials (PI: Jeong) in Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. The main field of research in Laboratory of Advanced Biomaterials is synthesis of novel biomaterials and their applications in regenerative medicine.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Design and perform experiments for the proposal that is being developed (50%)

• Neural stem cell differentiation into functioning neurons and oligodendrocytes in microgel assemblies

• Cardiac differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells in microgel assemblies

NIH and DOW proposal preparation (50%)

• The research associate will provide help with proposal writing. More particularly, finding proper references, creating schematic diagrams and compiling preliminary data for the proposal.

Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

• PhD

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Polymer synthesis/modifications

• Human cell culture

• Biological characterizations/assays (e.g. qRT-PCR, ELISA, confocal microscopy)

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering

Compensation Pay Range:

$65,000

The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications.
