Job Description:
SCOPE: The Medical Assistant’s primary function is to assist the provider during cancer screenings, coordinate with Patient Navigator on participants with abnormal findings and assist with on-site registration of mammography patients at screening events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist providers during cancer screenings on mobile clinics.
2. Coordinate with Patient Navigator to successfully hand off participants with abnormal findings.
3. Provide participants with normal results while maintaining accurate documentation and records in all charting systems.
4. Assist with on-site participant registration of screenings participants.
5. Reporting and evaluation of patient navigation programs including but not limited to the breast and cervical programs for both Louisiana and Mississippi.
6. Maintain current knowledge of cancer screening guidelines, cancer prevention strategies, and cancer risk factors for the six types of cancer screened through the program. Complete a minimum of four (4) hours of relevant continuing education.
7. Performs other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years or more of clinic experience preferred
- CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) required, CPR certification required
- Phlebotomy
