A fantastic role is available for a Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead within the Defence Assembly business – Shadow Works.

Shadow Works is part of Bristol’s Defence Manufacturing, Assembly & Test organisation.

  • Shadow Works team is a fast-make manufacturing and measurement facility that can produce models, prototypes and development parts quickly and cost-effectively. Often involved in innovative and unique projects, the team blends the traditional with the cutting-edge.
  • Shadow Works supports not only the Defence Assembly area with part modifications and tooling but also Manufacturing, Development and Civil. This offers a wide variety of products and challenges to work with on a daily basis.

The successful applicant will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager (MEM) and be responsible for leading all technical activity across one of the facility’s ME teams, with accountability for ensuring that current and future quality, cost, delivery targets are met.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead process creation for a large range of manufacturing capabilities, utilising the hardware and skills available in the area to meet delivery requirements.
  • Drive right-first-time improvements throughout the facility which deliver improved business results and customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with the Production Leader and Planner to assist in task planning for the area to maximise production.
  • Undertake short/medium term load and capacity planning for your area of the business.
  • Support MEM with resourcing to ensure the team has the correct skills to deliver customer expectations. Support employee development, performance and behaviour within their own team in line company procedures.

   

Position qualifications:

  •  Professionally qualified engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/Foundation degree or other national equivalent) preferred but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of a range of manufacturing techniques and operations.
  • Experience of leading and managing teams within an Operations Business.
  • Can resolve complex problems and provide solutions whilst remaining focussed on priority tasks. Results oriented with a proven track record of delivering excellent business results.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to drive and motivate others.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence business, an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MOD and Government body approved cases, a dual national.
