About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Portfolio PMO Program Manager to strengthen portfolio governance, operating discipline, and business transparency across HARMAN SBU Connectivity Portfolio Team. Based in India, this role will partner with global product, engineering, finance, sales, and business leaders to translate portfolio priorities into measurable plans, clear decisions, and predictable outcomes.
The successful candidate will operate beyond traditional status reporting. The role will establish governance routines, integrate portfolio data, identify risks and dependencies early, and enable leadership decisions through fact-based insights. This position may support one or multiple product lines (per business need) and strategic initiatives while promoting common processes, accountability, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
What You Will Do
· Lead portfolio governance and execution-enablement activities across assigned Connectivity product lines and strategic initiatives.
· Plan and facilitate portfolio operating cadences, including monthly status reviews, QBRs, portfolio reviews, decision forums, and leadership workshops.
· Prepare decision-oriented materials that clearly summarize portfolio health, key milestones, risks, dependencies, financial status, and actions requiring leadership attention.
· Establish and maintain integrated portfolio plans, milestones, roadmaps, and cross-functional dependencies; ensure alignment with approved business priorities.
· Drive consistent application of HARMAN business management, product lifecycle, and governance processes, including compliance with applicable BMS and PLM requirements.
· Coordinate the definition and tracking of portfolio OKRs, KPIs, and execution metrics; identify trends, gaps, and corrective actions.
· Partner with Finance and product leaders to support business-case governance, budget planning, forecast-versus-actual reviews, investment tracking, and financial risk visibility.
· Support demand, capacity, and resource planning by consolidating needs, highlighting constraints, and facilitating trade-off decisions across functions and programs.
· Own portfolio-level risk, issue, action, and decision tracking; ensure timely escalation with clear impact analysis and recommended options.
· Drive cross-functional alignment among Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Quality, Sales, Business Development, and regional teams.
· Improve portfolio transparency through standardized dashboards, reporting templates, data quality controls, and traceability across planning and execution tools.
· Facilitate resolution of execution barriers by clarifying ownership, due dates, dependencies, and decision paths.
· Conduct governance and process reviews, identify recurring gaps, and implement practical continuous-improvement actions.
· Support portfolio communication and change-management activities, ensuring stakeholders understand priorities, governance expectations, and operating-model changes.
· Mentor project and program management colleagues and promote a collaborative, accountable, and data-driven PMO culture.
What You Need
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
· Typically 12+ years of overall professional experience, including at least 8 years in program management, portfolio management, PMO, product operations, or a related role.
· Demonstrated experience leading governance and execution across complex, global, cross-functional product or technology portfolios.
· Strong working knowledge of portfolio planning, milestone management, dependency management, risk and issue management, and executive reporting.
· Experience with financial governance, including budgets, forecasts, business cases, investment tracking, and variance analysis.
· Ability to synthesize complex information into concise, decision-ready insights for senior leaders.
· Excellent facilitation, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to influence without direct authority and work effectively across cultures, functions, and time zones.
· Proficiency with common portfolio and reporting tools such as Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Salesforce, Power BI, Qlik, or equivalent platforms.
· Automotive, connected-product, embedded software, electronics, or mobility industry experience is preferred.
What Is Nice to Have
· Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
· PMP, PgMP, SAFe, Agile, Lean, or portfolio-management certification.
· Experience with automotive telematics, connectivity, software platforms, or product lifecycle management.
· Experience implementing or transforming a PMO operating model, governance framework, or portfolio reporting capability.
· Experience working with geographically distributed teams across India, Europe, Asia, and North America.
