Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician (PSTS-2026-26130):

 

Bowhead seeks a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician to provide Base Telecom Support at the Whidbey Island, WA. The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician effort will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M). This position will require both in office and infield experience and duties. The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M). On job and verification training is offered for all full time Bowhead employees after 30 days of employment. This is an onsite position. 

 

Sign on Bonus: $2,500.00

Responsibilities

Job duties include but are not limited to: 

• Operate and maintain government-owned telephony switches (PBX), including:
• Nortel Meridian Option 81C
• Perform:
• Troubleshooting and repair of switch issues
• Software updates and patching
• Installation and configuration of switch hardware
• Daily operation monitoring
• Support for voicemail systems and IPE (Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment)
• Utilize company vehicle to travel to remote locations weekly.
• Ensure switch systems remain fully operational and compliant with DoD/Navy standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Years of experience

• 2 years of relevant experience required.
• 5 years relevant experience is preferred.
• Prior experience within DoD networks highly preferred.

• Required skills or certifications:
  • • AT Level II (per DoD 8570.01-M)
    • COMPTIA Security+
    • Certification reimbursement will be offered after 30 days of employment

• Preferred skills or certifications:  

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) or equivalent
• Nortel Meridian System Administration or equivalent
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent

• Key System experience sought:

• Mitel
• Panasonic
• NEC

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts

 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

 

Target pay rate is $43.50 commensurate with experience
