Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) Credit Chief Operating Officer (COO) team.

The GCIB Credit COO team provides business support to the GCIB Credit function, which manages and delivers the credit relationship for wholesale clients, including Corporates, Financial Institutions, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions. The team supports the business in delivering against the company's growth strategy while operating within established risk appetite and underwriting standards. Although the COO team operates as an independent function, it works closely with business partners across the organisation, including Relationship Managers, Product Specialists, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Operations, and Technology teams.

The GCIB Credit COO team is responsible for a diverse range of activities supporting a large and complex global business. Responsibilities include regulatory adherence processes, audit and compliance coordination, project management and delivery, issue remediation, process improvement initiatives, technology implementation, and supporting the deployment and governance of policies and procedures.

Roles within the GCIB Credit COO team require close collaboration with senior management to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support strategic change initiatives. Successful candidates will develop a strong understanding of GCIB Credit activities, regulatory requirements, and the broader banking environment, while gaining exposure to a wide range of business and operational disciplines.

The GCIB Credit COO team is highly regarded and brings together professionals from a variety of backgrounds, including underwriting, finance, operations, business support, and data management.

As a result of changes to our EMEA legal entity booking model arising from CRD6 requirements, the volume of EEA borrower activity booked into BofA Europe DAC is expected to increase significantly. To support this growth and ensure continued adherence to regulatory requirements and legal entity governance standards, additional resources are required within the GCIB Credit COO team.

Role Responsibilities

The Business Support Associate will be an integral member of the GCIB Credit COO team, with an initial focus on supporting activities related to EMEA legal entity governance and reporting.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of EMEA legal entity booking selection approvals.
  • Performing reconciliations and reporting for facilities within Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) scope.
  • Supporting pipeline tracking and legal entity reporting activities.
  • Assisting with CRD6-related project delivery and implementation activities.
  • Producing management information and reporting to support business governance processes.
  • Working with stakeholders across GCIB, Credit, Risk, Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Technology teams.

Over time, the role is expected to expand into broader GCIB Credit COO responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting the development, maintenance, and communication of Front Line Unit (FLU) procedures and guidance.
  • Serving as a point of contact and subject matter expert for designated processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting the monitoring and testing of controls through data analysis, issue identification, and remediation activities.
  • Assisting with regulatory examinations, internal audits, monitoring activities, and inspection reviews.
  • Supporting governance forums through the preparation of management information, metrics, and dashboard reporting.
  • Providing guidance and support to stakeholders to ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and the implementation of operational efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in business support, credit, risk management, operations, finance or a related function.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and enhance day-to-day processes.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high regard for data quality and accuracy.

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of syndicated loan agreements
  • Ability to lead and execute deliverables while maintaining a positive and resilient approach during periods of pressure, change, or ambiguity.
  • Experience using AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to support business activities and productivity improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, Compliance, Audit, Credit Review, and other key stakeholders.

Education
