Purchasing/Category Manager

On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join a leading FMCG organisation. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the procurement function, ensuring product availability, managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting the company's overall commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
• Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for FMCG products, ensuring optimal stock levels and product availability.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate, and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Monitor inventory requirements, demand forecasts, and purchasing trends to ensure effective replenishment planning.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Work closely with Sales, Operations, Warehousing, and Finance teams to align purchasing activities with business needs.
• Track market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Prepare and present purchasing reports, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs to the General Manager.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry best practices.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving procurement processes, supplier performance, and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management role, preferably within the FMCG sector.
• Strong negotiation, commercial, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Experience managing inventory planning, forecasting, and stock control.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• A relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field will be considered an asset.
